Reading this thread it's a wonder how/why any of you fuckers support City.
None taken! I don't know Vinny personally and like I said nothing malicious. He just always came across as a bit eccentric and self centered for me. Still one of my favorite players, but just a general vibe I always got, although happy to be proven wrong. To be fair I wouldn't expect a top footballer and club captain to be an average joe.I was genuinely curious as to what you meant by 'something off about him...' given that it's not generally a term used to compliment a person. No offence meant I assure you.
You don't see many diving headers anymore do you?Sometimes our football is too clinical. I would love mad penalty area scrambles watching players make idiotic mistakes and then redeem themselves with a late bullet header winner.
And centre forwards. You don't see many diving headers anymore do you?
Have they gone the way of the dinosaur/white dog poo?
I can think of one in recent years. You don't see many diving headers anymore do you?
Have they gone the way of the dinosaur/white dog poo?
The only odd thing is you singling out “foreign players”I met and spoke with Vincent Kompany on a couple of occasions. I have to agree with @yankblue, he came across as a rather 'odd' and somewhat 'self-interested' character. Much like a few other foreign players I've met over the years.
It seems to me that the longer our success goes on the more entitled a proportion of our support and indeed the support on this forum becomes.
There was a time when 99.9% of City fans came across as humble and good natured, always looking for the humour in any given situation but we now seem to be developing a clique of supporters who are more interested in braying like donkeys about our dominance and demeaning the the history of other clubs.
A recent example of this was when we were buying Grealish - at that juncture there certainly seemed to be far too many of our own ranting like deluded scousers about how we’re a big club and Villa are nothing.
It was sickening because a notable proportion of our support were displaying the behaviours that we, and all good supporters, had previously loathed in the dipper and untied fans.
It probably upsets those that behave like that but, it needs to be said that the first responsibility of the mods should be to cut that cancer out as soon as they see any sign of it - being City fans that are true to our well earned reputation is more important than getting one over on other fans by acting like spoilt brats . . and indeed more important than having the success that encourages some idiots to forget who we are and where we come from.
Good humour and camaraderie got us through the hard years and forged our reputation as good supporters, don’t let that get trashed by the newly arrived eh?
Zabaleta wasn’t brilliant
Agreed. Mancini is not the god some people believe him to be.
- I love him, but Mancini has some serious flaws as a manager. His club managerial career after City proves that. The Italian national team is perfect for him because the players aren't around long enough for him to piss them off to the point of revolt.
He always seems like one of the most regular, intelligent and down to earth footballers around. The fact he had 2 brain cells to rub together does make him somewhat of a novelty as a professional footballer.
- Kompany is one of my favorite players, but there was something off about him. Nothing malicious, maybe he is just a weird guy.
Agreed. Get your head on the game Phil we don't want another Balotelli, Gazza, Wilshere type scenario.
- Foden is developing some troubling off the field behavior and would be getting far more criticism for that and his inconsistent year if he wasn't local. Nothing in itself is a major red flag but he just seems quite immature to me. Which on one hand is fair, on the other he's nearly 22, has kids, and a high profile professional career and needs to act like it.
Agreed. If Fowler scores his pen then this becomes a stroke of genius.
- Pearce playing James up top absolutely worked. If that had been made by a less clueless manager it would've been praised.
He got sacked after 11 months. He had us playing as well as we had for decades and beat United home and away.
- Sven was not a great manager for us. The second half of his year in charge we were absolutely miserable to watch, in relegation form, and he never adapted.
How is this an unpopular opinion?
- Mpenza was one of the most important signings in recent memory. His goals kept us up. Without them, there's no Thaskin takeover, and who knows where we'd be now.
You’re the ones whose needs are catered for, not ignored. About 97.5% of the Etihad are areas where nobody stands up so if you’re in part of the 2.5%, move to part of the 97.5%.Some people (I am one!) prefer to watch football sitting down. But our needs are completely ignored.

Ha, fair. Maybe not commonly voiced opinion is more accurate? I just love me some Mpenza.Agreed. Mancini is not the god some people believe him to be.

"He never adapted" fuck me he hardly had time. He took a team that looked certain for relegation, and hadn't scored a home goal in 6 months and won 10 home games on the bounce.
