Plus that paper closed down 90 years ago so they have had plenty of time to rename it more aptly

Just looked that up. The documentary was called Hypernormalisation and it postulated that the Americans only switched the blame from Syria to Libya because it needed Syria onside for the first gulf war. However there seems to be incontrovertible physical evidence that it was planned and executed by Libyan agents in Malta. As there were British and many other international agencies involved in the investigation a cover up of that size would have been implausible.
 
I see the lack of an invasion (yet) has enabled this thread to devolve into personal animus and the discussion of pilot and teacher wages, and whether being a pilot is akin to being an Uber driver.

Putin may be a cnut, but he's a very shrewd cnut.

He reminds me of a woman who knows how to yank a man's chain by doing and saying certain things at the right time. She may be smaller, weaker and poorer, but she knows she can get a wholly disproportionate reaction while arguing that she hasn't done anything at all.

I could never like or admire the guy, but I respect him as a manipulator of events. He plays a weak hand brilliantly. For those who know history, I am reminded of Louis XI of France 'the Spider King.' Another chap who knew how to play the opposition like a fiddle.

It's shocking isn't it? I have read people on here comparing him to Johnson. Johnson is a very poor PM , but you can't compare him to the ruthless dictator that is Putin.

Easy solution to this problem, Ukraine needs to rent or buy a nuclear submarine off the western powers. Putin is a bully an a thug but he isn't stupid he wouldn't attack a sovereign nation armed with nuclear weapons.

I wonder if it's possible to rent the USS ENTERPRISE from them????
(And before anybody starts having a go, I already know that she is/was an aircraft carrier, it's the principle that I'm more concerned with!!!

He's a ****. And he's played the west.

I'm not siding with him.

Years of watching his country crumble and watch the US take advantage of a pissed up leader in Yeltsin. He's bided his time. Now he's launching his controlled anger in a way that makes NATO look like warmongers.

That's not defending or supporting him.

British weaponry has been used to attack civilian targets in all sorts of places, and the usual excuse is that of the prostitute, "If we didn't sell it, someone else would".

Straying a bit off topic, except the arms trade always needs an enemy.

You can compare the lying, narcissism and the personality cult. The willingness to rewrite laws for the sole reason of retaining power and getting their own way is also comparable.

Putin’s on another level when it comes to thuggishness, nationalism, cunning and being a danger to the world rather than just his own population. He’s playing the west and NATO like a fiddle.

The world laughs at us because of Johnson. They’re not laughing at Putin and Russia.
