Russian invasion of Ukraine

He kind of has a point, NATO has morphed from a defensive alliance into an imperialistic entity. It is American expansionism by stealth. Putin has a point, why on earth would he want to allow more NATO expansionism on his doorstep. Still doesn't alter the fact Putin is brutal **** mind.
NATO expansionism is a lie because Ukraine is not going to join NATO nor would it need to anyway in the absence of Russia at its borders. Putin constantly argues against the threat of NATO at his borders but there is no threat at his borders. NATO is not going to invade Russia, NATO is not going to invade Eastern bloc countries to threaten Russia.

The whole principle of NATOs existence is based upon Russian aggression and its geopolitical goals within the region which is Russian expansion and imperialism itself (ala USSR). Crimea is case in point, Crimea was not a western occurrence, it didn't happen because of NATO aggression, it happened because Russia decided to stealth annex another country.

We have to remember that Putin is a guy who should no longer be president but he is president because Russia changed its own laws to ensure he stays president. The leader of the opposition to him in Russia is currently in prison. His good people have in the past poisoned a Russian and UK protected citizen with chemical weapons on UK soil.

Let's not pretend that Russia is not a danger and NATO is somehow in any way responsible. This is the logic afforded to Diane Abbott and the Corbyn ilk who made this same comment this morning and let's face it we're all glad they at least aren't in power and she isn't home secretary!

Russia's been a destabilizing force acting against world peach for literally centuries.

The latest incarnation is a Soviet Union heyday, wistful, ex-KGB leader, without a shred of morals whatsoever. Unfortunately, the populist drive to expand Russia's influence is exceedingly strong - nationalism is very popular.

Invasion of the Ukraine, however popular among Russians, probably isn't a smart move politically. Mass casualties will occur followed by all sorts of economic sanctions. Putin isn't stupid - as a political creature it's to his advantage, certainly, to threaten invasion. Actually invading is, however, an entirely different proposition.

For me - roughly 50-50 that Russia invades the Ukraine at this point.

Distraction tactic from Domestic issues again from Biden.
They are all at it. Yesterday we had the spectacle of pound shop Blair using a diplomatic crisis, with potentially devastating consequences, to take a swipe at his predecessor (yawn) and basically label the anti-war movement as traitors. Right wing tropes not all bad then.
CNN are on a war footing. MSNBC are more concerned about Trump binning top secret documents down the shitter. Faux are just Faux, pumping out rhetoric supporting and demanding the far right truck demonstration is repeated here.

Funny how none of the western media aren't showing Putin saying publicly he doesn't want a war.
Western coverage amounts to good cop/bad cop and you're either with us or against us reactionary bullshit. No mention of the civil war in the the East between Ukranian troops (together with some neo-nazi militias) and seperatists. Who knew there was an internationally brokered framework to get us out of this mess?

You really are a sucker for Kremlin talking points.

If Putin didn’t want a war, then why has he stuck 300,000 troops on Ukraines border? And I mean the literal border, not “within 600 miles of the border”

Just watching RT

The propaganda machine is incredible. The way they twist news stories and edit stuff out to twist context.

It's not good. Apparently the Ukraine army are all Nazis not an army fighting Russian backed separatists or potential invasions at all.

I wouldn't say they are all Nazis but it's not entirely without foundation. Uncomfortable bedfellows eh
