Spurs (H) - Post-Match Thread

the good thing about today is we did and lose the title like skysport/media are saying ?
it was only 3 points not a cup final or the league title and we go again next week still in the driving seat

but boy i hate playing spurs always have always will. its just voodoo or a curse or something involving the dark arts

We need a singular threat up front.

Bernardo, Rodri and Cancelo carried the team in the 1st half of the season. Now they are not in top form, and the team as a whole isn't in form as well. But this season they enjoyed a winter break and will hopefully hit form again. Predicted in the 'How many points..' thread that, unlike February last season, we'll be less convincing this February, but will hit form at the right moment and finish the season stronger than last season. We'll improve soon.

This season is not last season. And may finish better than last season. We fight to the end.

So team who have games in hand don’t count! Chelsea had 2 Liverpool had 3
Forget Chelsea. It’s a two horse race and it’s now a genuine race. I thought it was done and dusted after beating Chelsea. Now I’m not so sure

Usually these run ins go with the team with momentum as we have proved the last few times. A few of us were worried before today's game given as Spurs have some kind of hex over us but nobody was expecting that horror show. I hope we snap out of it quickly as we're at the business end of the season now.

Before today I said our next two games were really tough and we've lost the first one. Everton will bust a gut next week backed by a hostile crowd, they are fighting for their lives. Obviously it would be great if Leeds put a performance in but I fear today's result will fire up Liverpool and they'll smash them. We live in hope though.

this was always the case ? that covid-19 outbreak helped liverpool and they wanted games called off knowing the transfer window coming up in jan so they could get new players

Only just clocked our last game of the season is away against Villa.. surely slippy G couldn’t get his own back?

Anything could happen now

a few weeks ago we were 15 points clear and 80 to 1 on to win the league

it could go either way now

it’s stating to look like the match v the dippers could be a title decider.. just how the PL and sky wanted it
The table was distorted, and will only look as it should next week, though the scousers and Chelsea will miss next weekend for the carabao. a lot of arrogant bollocks in the media as well, assuming that we will both win every game till we play in April.

Don’t forget how we reeled Liverpool and Chelsea in. I don’t think Liverpool have had a blip, they got lucky with some performances.

Lloris is such a weird keeper too btw, he can go from a Spurs liability to pulling off saves you never expected him to get near.
To be fair it would of been poor of he had of been beaten by that Gundogan shot it wasn't in the corner. He's a bang average keeper which we should have tested more today.

we’ve lost one game in how long?? So defeatist. Wouldn’t want to be in the trenches with you
You don't need a positive outlook to run into gunfire once every few weeks until you die for five yards of mud. It might help with the rats that eat your toes, though - a cynic in that kind of situation would add a real drag to proceedings.

Gracias.

The Boys inBlue didn’t give in. They fought to the end. We didn’t exactly show’em but we didn’t give in. Thank you City. Thank you lads. I am going to say thank you fans because the ones round me really joined in today but I shouted for the South stand to sing quite a few times. They were very quiet today!

We needed Stones and Diaz today.

However, on the bright side, we are still Champions of England and still will be next season! :-)
Díaz was shit

The thing that pisses me off most is that despite endless slow possession (even on 96 minutes) when we eventually get round to putting the ball into the box its a hopeful punt at some midget.
Our strategy is that eventually we hope the ball will drop to one of our diminutive players who will score. Its just that a 'hopeful' plan that the opponent will screw up or the mere scale of half arsed crosses will pay off. That is OK against the likes of Norwich but not against better sides .Also if a side has strong athletic attackers then we get a Crystal Palace or Spurs like result.

We need a singular threat up front.

so true
its same old same old city we can only play one way no plan B or throwing somebody up as a target man ?
i think john stones could be used up front when games are like today. just hit the big man and play from there

Not sure how our defensive game plan didn’t include not letting Kane pick the ball up and being allowed to turn. If we play like that against the dippers then they’ll run riot.
