Ukraine is claiming to have inflicted 3,000 casualties and blown up 500+ tanks and APCs and yet we've got literally no verification and Russia is claiming 0 casualties.

Its funny coz I saw a Russian spokesman earlier claiming many Ukraine dead but saying no Russian troops had died - then I saw the Defence Minister in the HoC updating with the intelligence report that the Russians had taken the airport yesterday but then had lost control to the Ukrainians overnight and I thought "fuck me Vlad has deployed his Comical Ali early" - the idea they would retreat with zero losses is fanciful

Yeah...I just don't think I find him credible.

He's come out with a lot of stuff like this that I would love to believe, but no reliable news agency has backed up, there's very little photographic/video evidence to back it up, and feels a lot like stuff a government would pump out to keep morale high.




I hope he's right, just need someone like the BBC, Al-Jazeera, PA or Reuters to start backing him up.

There are videos of Ruskies burnt to a crisp outside blown up tanks and APCS, to say no casualties is as bad as North Korea claiming they won the world cup!

There will be losses on both sides obviously but as I have said previously an invading force seeing losses against a force defending its homeland will find even if inferior the defenders will fight fiercely.

Its like the airport - I have no doubt that the plan involved taking the airport on day one then using it as a jump off point for troops, armour and supplies to be airlifted in to overwhelm Kyiv. If thats failed then on day one the plan is failing. I can imagine that scene in downfall as the generals stand around - well in the same building - as Putin poring over maps having to decide who has the bollocks to tell him the Spetznatz ain't rolling in from the airport

Nobody on twitter is likely to be credible, nothing much can be verified, no reliable news agency will back anything up, even the russians aren't allowing their news to follow events, because they know it will be a shit show, and if that gets back to the ordinary folk, putin is fucked.

Ukraine have allowed western media in, but are keeping them well away from the action, and rightly so, the onlt things making it to our screens are orchestrated goevernment clips (both sides), or from local mobile phone footage that gets lucky.

I thought the footage from earlier today near (north of I think was quoted) Kharkiv was telling, presumably from local media and passed on to the bbc, showing lots of severely damaged russian kit, and the Ukraine soldiers basically relaxed by the roadside, having a ciggie.

He’s quoting the Ukraine governments numbers there. I don’t think they’ll be far off but it’s nigh on impossible to get to verified figures at the mo.

Was a suicide mission, sent them deep into Ukraine without supply lines and they were countered within hours. Desperation and underestimating their enemy by the looks of it.
 
Ukraine’s President Zelenskiy just posted that the disconnection from SWIFT and the introduction of personal sanctions against Putin and the provision of defense weapons were approved. Thanks to France.
