Russian invasion of Ukraine

They expected the Ukraine army just to lie down, a terrible misjudgement.

Do you think they were thinking Afghanistan? I mean if so they were half right in that the "allied" response has been feather duster but unlike the ANA the Ukrainian Forces are not gonna melt away

I've no idea to be honest, but when it gets to guerilla warfare in all those high rise blocks in Kyiv, then it's going to become a bloodbath, the russians in the streets, the citizens in every block with ammunition and advantage over those below.

They'll need to carpet bomb the place, and that won't go well with the russian people imho.

putin thought this was easy, he'll soon find out it's a terrible mess (hopefully).

which if you bear in mind Russian WW2 experience defending places like Stalingrad against the Germans makes the miscalculation all the more puzzling

Even if Russia managed to take out half of the Ukrainian army and reserves before they break off into cells. You would still have enough for probably 50k 10 man cells all over Ukraine.

if the west can manage to feed them all weapons then it’s going to get extremely damaging for Russia.

hopefully this doenst then come back to bite the west like the Taliban did.

They experienced a bloodbath in Afghanistan during the 80s.

Putin has lost his marbles with this move. Not that he had marbles before, the bloke is a bad nonce.

I was listening to an analysis of him on the radio earlier and the guy said that when you have been in power for 22 years - done the shit he has done - you start to think "I am always right because it always works out for me anyway"
Then because you are "always right" in your view you surround yourself with acolytes who are just yes men which reinforces your self confidence and in the end you fail - maybe he is heading that way

If it's at that point already where they need to get random blokes off the street to take up arms, then they should just stand down and make an agreement with Russia.

Particularly as no help is coming from the west on this.

There is a point where this pivots from being brave, to idiotic and reckless. If the president of Ukraine wants kids to fight, then he should be taking up arms himself.
Thank fuck people like you weren’t around during the last century.

Yes should have been unanimous, Russia shouldn't even have got a vote, never mind being the presidents of the security council.
