I wrote something in KOTK a few years back about this. Someone told me that united insisted on their full title so that's what I wrote.

Stuart Brennan kindly contacted me and explained that the Trinity Mirror SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) team had worked out that printing the full united name got significantly more hits than 'man utd' whereas it didn't make any appreciable difference with us. So that's why they do it.

So to accommodate the gloryhunters , should be obvious really.

Isn't this something to do with the club branding itself as Man City, rather than Manchester City. Wouldn't be surprised to hear this is club driven.

If it is, it's a mistake imo, and a bit of an insult to local fans.

The MUEN is a well established insult to local fans.

but I found this and the reason the guy gave is in there.

It was to do with erasing or destroying God's name, so if it was written on paper and somebody threw the letter away then it would be destroying his name, apparently a more modern interpretation of an old script.

You make a good point. Also it is the MUEN's house style to refer to 'United and City' in any reference. Most people would say 'City and United' just because it scans and sounds better. Not them though. They have been inextricably linked to the rags for decades.
However, that is the least of the MUEN's problems. Most people wonder how or why it continues to exist.

Been pretty quiet this week in the media, maybe due to the Ukraine situation but I'm used to player X wants to leave, not in my lifetime, investigations against us could strip us of everything we've ever won, assorted exrags dragged out to talk bollocks etc....it's quiet, too quiet.

This has wound me up for some time now . Sky just love using "MANCHESTER" only when referring to utd and really emphasise saying Manchester utd . Whereas referring to City it's always "Man City" , always low key .
We mustn't allow the media to downgrade our clubs name and heritage to sound like a Sunday league football team . I don't know if the club are aware that the name Manchester is being replaced by "MAN" . I want our full title MANCHESTER CITY used all the time , on adverts , on shirts , on flags on everything and especially the media . So if anybody reading this has any contacts within the club , please let them know . We don't want our title name stolen !
