They won’t fold they will be sold on within the next couple of months and carry on as normal ............. ain’t they now self sufficient????? If he’s hardly putting money in now then why can’t the new owners do the same ????
Only when all their revenue streams are available to them mate. As things stand, they can't make any revenue from additional ticket sales over and above those already sold, they can't sell merchandise, and on top of that they're seeing multi-million pound sponsorship deals being pulled. All that combined will leave a huge black hole in their finances and it could have an almost immediate impact because as we saw when Covid hit, even the biggest clubs kind of operate on a month to month basis and they don't tend to have that much spare cash in the bank at any given time.

I think their shirt sponsor has already pulled out and Nike are considering their position so by the time a sale is agreed, they may well have lost most of their main ones. If their shirt sponsors pay them per month then that'll be over £3 million alone in revenue that they'll lose this month before the impact of any other revenue stream restrictions are taken into account.

Ok, then why are the sponsors (Nike, 3) leaving or allowed to terminate contracts ? It's still an indirect link (providing steel which may be used to built tanks). Why not it be extended to find Sheikh Mansour's link to Abu Dhabi ruling family who are involved in war in Yemen and had a role in Libyan civil war ? Wasn't there a leaked email of Simon Pearce to UAE ministers ? Where is the line drawn ?
Or indeed the uk govts years of supplying arms to Saudi Arabia !? I haven't heard anyone say much about this funnily enough !

I find this topic very interesting to say the least. Being from the Middle East (born and raised - moved to US for college), It's always intriguing when it comes to the West moral compass - very, very selective.
Not really. We’re sanctioning people who are being found to be contributors to an invasion that could lead to a war we will fight in. It’s not about morals, it’s about enacting a tactic to try and hinder their invasion progress and make them think again about World War 3.

Because UAE aren’t going to wage war on us… we may very well, and it’s looking fairly likely, that we will be going to war with Russia and World War 3.

The amount of “yeah but what about…” I’ve seen on this site over the last few weeks shows a lack of understanding about what’s actually going on and what it could lead to. Too many people are too bothered about “yeah but what about the West in Iraq?” “yeah but what about UAE in Yemen?” (considering Britain and America are on the same side as UAE in the war in Yemen, I don’t think that’s really a valid one to point out).

This is about Russia, now. If they succeed in Ukraine and then attack a NATO country next - Estonia or Latvia, for example - which coukd quite feasibly happen, then we will be at war with Russia in WW3.

If we can hinder them now while they’re still struggling in Ukraine, this is how we stop the escalation happening without having to be the ones who enact war on Russia from our side by fighting with Ukraine in Ukraine militarily, starting WW3 ourselves.

They aren’t self sufficient, they made the biggest loss in the Prem last season (£145.6m loss last year). They are also £1.54bn in debt to Abramovic as he constantly gives them loans to buy players (and other things).

Then i feel sorry for you as youve let the press dictate how you should feel.
Stand by my point, id never want to see ANY team disappear.
Slide down the divisions and into the conference, fine. but not just … go.

i know a Bury fan and he was bereft when they went under. Wouldnt wish it on anyone
Yeah that's fair comment, I too know a couple of Bury fans who was grief stricken when they went, I was gutted about Bury as well if I'm honest.

Just to add, my feelings for Chelsea is purely based on my hatred for their racist views and actions from a lot of their fans.......(and throw in the fact they best us in the final)

Look, I am only repeating what I heard, but the U.A E. are very worried about what has happened to Chelsea, they have ordered Mansour to sell by next weekend.
He has had 2 offers, both are English so a deal should go through. Mike Ashley is the first bidder, Gary Neville is the other.

Hell, this posting shite lark is dead easy, now I know why it's got to 244 pages.
Delooney thinks our owners (and Newcastle's) should be sanctioned but he is unable to supply a reason for such action. I expect it is because they are brown, arab and Muslim and not a member of the old guard.

Given the unfolding links with putin and the cabinet, already substantial thanks to the graun and twitter, the lurid headlines of savage punishment by this govt's official mouthpieces s*n fail torygraph etc, are bluff and bluster.
"A good day to save face" operation. A smoke-screen. A wag of the finger portrayed as a knockout punch. Ho f'kin hum. Johnson as a version of Elliot Ness??? rofl..a dawn raid (with a month's notice ycnmiu). Once again, sport and politics make a toxic combination. There is a very real danger that the
rag/arse/dipper axis will use the situation to damage City by "association", no doubt we have contingency plans in place. Chelsea will not go out of business, Abramovich will not become a pauper and johnson will not stop lying. Only one of these is cast-iron guaranteed...

Abramovic, quite rightly, has been sanctioned by virtue of his association with a murderous, oppressive regime. Given this, I wonder whether the spotlight might again be turned on Newcastle United. In common with Russia, Saudi Arabia's rulers have overseen a repressive regime at home and been directly involved in the civil war in Yemen for some years. Independent reporting has identified numerous human rights abuses committed by the Saudis including war crimes, unlawful or arbitrary killings, forced disappearances, torture and cases of cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment and arbitrary arrest and detention. Sound familiar? In spite of the stark similarities, both the football authorities and the government were content to wave the PIF purchase through.

One positive of where we are right now is the actions of the west (the EU and US predominantly) in sanctioning Russia will be a bit of a wake up call for other regimes. Especially if Putin doesn't survive the next couple of years.

People go on about not poking the bear. Well the resolve of the western democracies is looking like the poked bear. Russia as a nation is fucked right now. Its a question of time before their economy totally collapses. It may not look dramatic but governments all round the world are looking at Russia and wondering how they will survive.

More likely given the games played to give the remaining teams an automatically 3pts surely? (In the very unlikely case they wouldn't finish the season.) The Premier league would open themselves to so much litigation if they sanctioned a pt deduction in such uncertain circumstances. This is a very complex situation that I don't think will be solved for many months.
