I've tried watching it a couple of times before, and was unimpressed. But I thought I'd try it one last time tonight. My final impression; Once upon a time in Hollywood really isn’t very good.

Just (finally) seen "Licorice Pizza", coming-of-age romantic drama about '70s Hollywood that's engaging but inessential. Good acting throughout. Two hours is at the top end of my engagement level but flew by to be fair 7.5/10.

The Marksman. 5/10. Liam Neeson's latest action flik. I find his action films quite enjoyable, but not this one. The director used to work a lot with Clint Eastwood, and you can tell. The film has strong A Perfect World vibes to it, but nowhere near as good.

Think it's the Justice League Snyder Cut which is 4 hours long (from about 2 1/2), and a vast improvement.

I think Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice ultimate edn/director's cut is about 3 hours long (from 2 1/2).

Recently rewatched Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, both still visceral in different ways. Fiction with multiple stories/characters/locations and Dogs with a limited number of sets/characters.
Dialogue flies like bullets, makes most of his later stuff pretty ropey, though like Hateful eight!

Surprised no-one's been talking thermonuclear Armageddon more. Two fro the 80s which show life after a nuclear attack: The Day After US TV movie with Jason Robards which is fairly simplistic and dated. Apparently it persuaded Reagan to engage with the Soviets on disarmament, fair dos.

The British take is Threads. Remember watching this as a teenager in the mid 80s and being scared shitless. The next week the headmaster made the entire school watch it in assembly, sadist! It's about a medium range attack on the UK where the city of Sheffield was attacked. It gave a vignette of people's lives before, before the bomb exploded and how survivors began to eke out an almost stone age existence. It's grim as hell very disturbing.

On the brighter side, I watched a couple of cold war thrillers Octopussy (!) which is good cheesy fun, especially with Steven Berkoff's eye rolling mad general. Also absolutely love Firefox with Clint Eastwood as an Vietnam veteran charged with stealing the Soviets secret weapon .... The MiG29!! Great fun with a largely British cast.

Film I've heard a great deal about is Miracle Mile, another 80s ROM thriller about a chap who finds the girl of his dreams then gets a phonecall telling him nuclear weapons have launched. He then tries to find his love. Not seen it myself but certainly has a great reputation.
