Good player but beyond the year of experience in England, I’d be asking what has changed since last summer when we could have picked him up for a pittance of what Brighton would wring from us?

A year in the PL has done him no harm whatsoever. He’s only 23 years old. He’s also a Spanish international. We’d be mad not to even enquire about his availability and transfer price.

But given that he’s a Barcelona product and the fact that our management have an in-depth knowledge of that country and its players, one would have thought that he‘s already been considered and rejected. Unless, of course, they were prepared to see Brighton make the move first and pay higher later.

I think the club can get a bit obsessed over trying to find a ball playing inverted full back. I think we need to try and sign a left back version of Kyle Walker, if one exists.

On the right we currently have a ball playing inverted fb and a beast of a recovery full back. On the left our two options are basically midfield inverted fbs. If Walker is out, as he is now, it completely changes how we have to play but if we could unearth a pacey natural lb it would balance us out. You’d also think they’d be easier to find as it’s a bit more conventional.
The whole balanceof the team is affected by the problems on the left. As well as being weak defensively it often means that Bernardo or Foden are restricted in their attacking mode because they have to come back deep to protect that side. Pep has done a smart job solving this problem most of the time but I think it is killing us against the better teams like Real Madrid and Liverpool (as seen in the FA Cup match) We won't win the CL till it is resolved unless we get lucky.

Do midfielders not have to tackle, control the ball, head the ball, make simple passes or mark anyone ?
Worst player we have had in 15 years in any position.
Absolute dog shit. Wouldn't give him a kick around in Heaton Park.
That's a bit harsh. He has had his moments and was great when asked to step in in 17/18 and 18/19. He has been terrible this season though. Perhaps the Ukraine crisis has affected him. I do think he has to go though. He is nowhere near as good as Clichy and Kolarov were.

He is probably too polite to tell you, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to waste his time keeping your company.

Can't imagine many would with your attitude.

Thats my only reservation on Cucu. If Barca come knocking in a few years undoubtedly he will go back there.

Comfortable on the ball, fast, great passer of the ball, great at crossing, can tackle as well. Would fit in perfectly to Pep’s passing system.

Marc Cucurella.
