It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Again, I'm not comparing the players just the fact that dinho was essentially a nobody before he came to city and flourished. No reason why that can't happen again.

Some posters are too hung up on age, profile, trophies when assessing potential signings. I'm actually using dinho as a massively positive example
he really was irrelevant for a 28 year old.

Incredible he managed to come here and become so iconic for us that late in a career. We'll never really be able to replace him. Very few DM's are ever that agile and athletic. and intelligent.

4 yellow cards
0 reds

in 27 starts this season, never been sent off in the prem and only twice in the last 5 years.
Shh you will spoil the narrative

Phillips or ward-prowse would do a job for us, it's not all the 60+ million signings and English players helps

I am hung up about overall quality. I don't really see what he can really add.

What narrative? There is not much quality about and we have an expensive academy that would help fill in the gaps when needed and who knows one of them could replicate or surpass Kalvin Phillips career. The only positive is Leeds aren't going to completly rinse us.

Listen mate, that's fair enough. You could be right, I'm not dying to buy him either tbh but I'm just pointing out that we have a decent track record of turning players into stars. Limited players who realise their flaws can be incredible for us if they keep it simple and leave the ego at the door because of the quality around them - "get the ball, pass the ball", that's all I'm saying

Delph was decent enough but Pep decided he was a better full back than midfielder. Maybe it could be the same for Phillips

Fair comment bud, I just think we have an EDS player that could fulfill that role. Why not use the funds towards a replacement for Gundo as I can’t see him playing much next season due to his back

I don't think that's necessarily a bad idea or anything but I doubt we'd sign Phillips on the off-chance he could do a job at RB.

clubs have several targets per position each offseason, besides misinformation and fabricated stuff. No need to assume we're going to buy x or z with such tenuous links.

He will be better there than midfield. Zinchenko can't get a game there and that is natural position for his national side.

Can't disagree there either!

Yeah but it was rather happenstance. Delph was already at the club when Pep joined and Zinchenko wasn't really expected to amount to anything.

If we wanted a RB we'd sign a RB. If we sign Phillips he might do a job there but it would be primarily to be a midfielder.

He won't play too many games there.
