He was kept for one year too many IMO. His pace had gone and I think we talked him into another year.
He was a great individual who inspired his team mates but to to extend based on those credentials was a mistake.
Probably down to Pep.

I think we gave him a 1 year contract extension hoping he'd take up a coaching role at the club. That isn't going to happen anytime soon as he's said he wants to go home to Brazil with his family. And after 9 years here as a world class model professional he leaves us with many fond memories. I wish him and his family well and I hope he decides to come back to us as a coach in future.

Adeus Fernandinho.

I dont think it was a mistake - the extra year was as cover for Rodri, he has done absolutely fine when playing in his position.

He has never been a central defender or a right back but has had to cover there due to our bad luck with injuries this year.

It's hitting me that his last game for us will be this weekend.

Never expected him to be a ten year man when we signed him at 28 years old.

One of my all time favorites. Personally my biggest regret is that I only got to see him in person once. COVID dashed plans for the second. But an absolute legend Ferny, thank you for everything, and I hope I can buy you beer some day.

My favourite City player since the takeover. The stepping razor, the smiling assassin. An absolute Don and a legend. From Brazil via Ukraine and became an adopted Manc, you only have to see his young lad’s high level Berting on social media to see just how much his family love it here.
Hope he can sign off by lifting more silverware. One more crown for the king

If he plays today, we are more likely to lose the tie than to win it. Great player but no spring chicken any more and gives away countless of scoring opportunities to opponents.

Not so sure that's true.

Edit: On second thoughts, may be you are right as a matter of probability. I.e. he isn't one of the best 11 players anymore. But that neither here nor there.
