He might be ok to fill in occasionally like Fernandinho did this season but if Rodri picked up a serious injury and we were forced to play Phillips for a significant period of time I could see us struggling.

I'm not saying we need to have two world class players in every position because it would be impossible to keep everyone happy but surely there's better options out there than Kalvin Phillips.

I've seen some comparisons with Delph and people saying he did ok but let's be honest, he was never good enough for our midfield hence why he only got game time at left-back.

We do seem to be going down the English route more and more these days which seems unnecessary when we could easily find better players abroad for less money. The only thing I can think of is maybe we know something about the homegrown quota being increased soon.

Phillips is better than Delph was in terms of overall quality and fit for the squad. You’ve gotta trust that the billion pound club has scouted him and know why they are going for him.

he’s just a good player that fits the teams ambitions and the current demand of what the squad needs.

His stats look awful. Camavinga has cost Real 30m€, Guimaraes Newcastle 40m€. SERIOUSLY, we cannot find a better player than this a little bit of lazy signing?

If pep wants him he must of seen enough that he can improve him.

Hojnjerg is a ponderous slow liability one thing he has is courage commitment and bottle in our team he be shite.
Correct. Hojberg is dog shit even in a defensive Tottenham team. Anytime I watch him it looks like he's towing a caravan on top of passing the ball to the fans in the stands.

The problem is that Hojbjerg has cost 15m£, Bruno Guimaraes 40M£, and both of them are way better players than Phillips. We should have scouted better. Look at his ball progression - it's on an abhorrent level. We have to demand more from Txiki, this is a lazy move, because of the release clause, coz all we know is that this guy is incapable of negotiating...

Do you think If we are after him pep wants him?

That guy Kamara from Olympique de Marseille who has recently joined Aston Villa would have been a better fit than Phillips.
Doesnt the quotas of the squad come into play, would have to fit him into the 17, where as Phillips we'd have more leeway

Hojbjerg has won 3 times against City in the last 5 matches ;)

For me, as I said before, it's kind of ridiculous to pay more than 35m£ for him. We could easily find better options on the market. And don't treat players as a backup. He was injured 3/4 of the season. His stats aren't so good. One or two injuries and we have a problem, so high quality is demanded. I would be more interested in Ruben Neves, to be honest. For me, he is better than Phillips.

That record means nothing tho? They were scraping 7th before Conte came and he’s one of the reasons why.

4-4-2. A destroyer and a box to box in the middle. Big man/little man in the box. Two pacy tricky fuckers down the wing. You know you want to Pep.

Tottenham beat us 3 times in the last 5 matches, Hojberg played in those games I don't see what that counts for exactly. Eric Dier also played in those matches along with Ben Davies and probably Oliver Skipp too, So should we sign those as well?

Ruben Neves isn't a holding midfield plater either, Both completely different players.

I reckon if he joins, by Christmas most will be saying he’s a great player

underated by everybody it seems but Leeds, their fans, Southgate and most importantly Pep

Price tags have nothing to do with player quality. However much he costs if he's the right profile (which imo, he is) it makes sense. Also not like the price tag in question is something crazy. Good money for an experienced player, healthy competition for Rodri.

Times and telegraph reported a couple months ago that the price is 60 mil. Which has then been reported when united were interested.

I hope so.

Just strikes me as the kind of player that Everton or Villa would try to sign.

Yeah its a bit weird one that the price now is 35m with the clause if they reported that a couple of months ago.. (that would come into effect 3 out of 5 years into his contract? in the summer)
A top 4 clause, a "City clause". No clause. I have no idea.
