I just think City have chosen to try get an alternative who wants to come here and accepts that Rodri is main guy as CDM.
I guarantee you that’s not the case with the player or with Pep. He’a not coming aware of being a “backup” and he’s not coming to be a backup either. And if he were, I’d be even more concerned. No player should be resigned to being on the bench

Oh the Bellingham dream. I’m not holding my breath
Okay, but you like me haven’t a clue what talks have taken place, nor what long term plans the club have over the next few windows, so you like me, like anyone can’t see the big picture. I don’t feel any great need to know because the last 8 years have told me I don’t need to.

Rodri and Rice are not the same player. Rodri is superior but I don’t know if Rice under Pep couldn’t even surpass him. Whereas I know with 100% confidence that even with Pep Phillips won’t be near Rice under Moyes lmao. Now imagine Pep leaving after next season and we’re stuck with him. Great prospect! Maybe we sign Bielsa as the successor
Doesn't reallly matter as long as we still have Rodri as the main player and don't sign Kalvin Phillips on silly wages.

if they were both playing for free, you'd get FDJ but there not FDJ is on about 15m more a year before a pay cut or any moves.
You’re aware that our wage bill will change drastically this and next summer. There were reports a couple of months ago that Newcastle were offering Phillips £125k wages

I’d argue Rodri might not perform as well under a different manager depending who he is (which isn’t an anomaly)

You cant guarantee anything since you are just guessing. Any team needs a hierarchy were everybody knows their role, some plays more, some plays less. Giving anyone false promises is a recipe for disaster and if Phillips is joining us he will most likely understand that initially the CDM role is Rodris to lose, even if he will get his fair share of minutes and have the chance to take it if he performs well.

I swear Phillips plays for League 2 with the talk on here. There is a reason we are signing a player who has played under Biesla. Pep knows exactly what he is getting and I don't doubt him. If Pep wanted De Jong, we would have been in for him, but he doesn't. I despise comparisons between players because there is just no way (specially in non attacking ones) to compare them in different teams with different style of football.

I’m not guessing as much as knowing the Pep mentality and how his squads are built. Especially coming in on a large fee, you can expect him to be given a lot of game time and that only decreases if he can’t perform as expected. It’s really depressing to think about LMAO as we say in Brazil, best to laugh than to cry…

Same could be said about Declan Rice as well but none of us can really predict on how he could develop either way.
How can the same be said about Rice considering how good he is under David Moyes? Lmao

They have been upgrading their team every summer. They tend to make headline signings. They had a window of Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo and served up this shit.
One team buys what fits, the other tries to fit what it buys.
But now they have a manager that can do the job. That’s the shitty truth.

van Gaal didn't end too well and for all his faults did a decent job considering. Mourinho the same. This is the first huge challenge in Ten Haag's career. van Gaal has warned him about the Utd job. The positive is he will be well paid even when it goes complely tits up.

I'd rather we promote Romeo Lavia to the first team. Given the prices being touted, for what will essentially be a backup option. The press and the rabid Liverpool netspend merchants(yes I know I already mentioned the press but I meant social media reactions etc) will be all over it.

He's not even worth £30m in my eyes at the moment. I'd rather we wait and see who's leaving the club this summer because we might be better off spending that money elsewhere.
