Do you often make up arguments others have made in your mind and then get upset about them? So strange. The vast majority of the discussion on here from Blues that like the signing is that he's a proven PL player that fits exactly the position we need exactly when we need it. If you've seen someone say Kalvin Phillips is world class (I haven't on this thread) then that person should be ignored.
I didn't make up any argument, it is exactly what it is - the narrative here is that no price is too expensive for kalvin phillips as long as pep guardiola wants him, the narrative here is that him not being foreign but "PL proven" is an advantage.

To the contrary, what you were claiming is the exact opposite, that the narrative here is that if he'd be named Joao, everyone would be crazy about him.

So you're no longer claiming people are saying Kalvin Phillips is world class? Glad we cleared that up.

You judge a fee at the end of the players 5 year contract

I think it's fair to say that's when the facts will be established and, until then, we're all making predictions based on what we've seen.

I'd rather get any supposed negative opinions out now because once he walks in the door he'll get my backing the same as any of them and I certainly won't be back to say "I told you so" if he doesn't live up to what some people are hyping him up to be. Don't really take too much pleasure in that stuff.

Leeds are now on course to sign: (£)
Roca (10-15m)
Aaronson (28m)
Kristensen (10m)

Also, sounds like no one is willing to buy Raphinha.

A large chunk of this forum thinks the longest serving and most decorated player in our squad is shit, and has at various points wanted to get rid of almost every player from our greatest ever side.

Pay no heed to the 'consensus' on here. It's no more of a place for considered debate than Twitter or any other social media platform.
Yep. I like it on here as it's a bit of a laugh, the transfer threads are great and the Matchday thread is one of life's great guilty pleasures. However I'm not sure I'd enjoy a drink with the vocal majority on here and I'd probably end up in a cell if I had half an hour in the company of 95% of those posting in the politics sub forum. However, it's still a good laugh.

Why does everyone keep saying he’s coming as back up? He’ll be signed with the intention to play a part in this team, he may end up a regular starter, no one knows.
We're competing for four trophies so we need a deep squad and with five subs next season, plus when the World Cup is being played, rotation will be needed.

He's proven he can play in the PL, he's an England international and he was a vital player for Lids, it was no surprise that their form went downhill when he was injured.

Also, as different teams have different styles, there will be some matches where he will be better suited than Rodri.

Looking more interesting for Phillips

Marc Roca, muy cerca de ser traspasado al Leeds

Are we genuinely in for this lad or is this just speculation? Any of our ITKs said owt?

It’s as if Pep, Txiki and our extensive global team of professional scouts and analysts have never heard of Palinha, and haven’t for whatever reason decided Phillips is a better bet.
Think I’ll go with their judgement rather than some random making strawman arguments on a forum
Palinha blows...now things are getting crazy...

We've gone from speculation to "imminent" and "widely expected to join" in the media for what that's worth. Had one ITK who called Ronaldo not joining City well before the media saying it's practically done. I expect this go through now after the last England match on Tuesday.

Cheers.

Oh no England have another game on Tues… another snooze fest

Think this one is further along, think he’ll be with us this month for sure. Hope so anyway

I think our business will be done by the start of pre season. Thought Haaland would've been the hardest to get but that's done. Phillips looks to be going that way with Leeds getting replacements and now Brighton are looking at left backs. Cucurella and Phillips I think that's our business done unless 2 of the attackers leave.

£30-£40 million and I could understand it, as that’s probably his value and enough to pay for a squad player.

£60 million for this guy and it just stinks of lazy recruitment.
so hes good enough for the position and role then, depending on his price? where does the talent go with the extra cash?

Exactly. I'm looking forward to sky's haaland calculated transfer fee. We're paying over £100m

I love their dynamic sliding scale of salaries…. Every time they mention Haaland’s salary they’ll add a bit more on… he will be on a million a week in no time…. The reverse of Alexis Sanchez - who started off on £600k a week but within a year he was eligible for Universal Credit !

Brilliant!
