Think most of the big teams have at least 2 journos covering them on The Athletic, Liverpool have about 4. I can see Pol doing more of the insider pieces and Sam discussing tactics etc

Already got two in and Palmer is ready so I think not. Front three is covered, two per position, by Grealish, Foden, Diaz, Haaland, Mahrez, Palmer.

Palmer needs another year for me, he's not going to be a regular starter this season, would love to be proved wrong and he absolutely smokes it, but I think it's a year too soon. If Sterling goes (I don't think he will) then i think we would be a bit short.

Aye the club will go forward with losing Aguero, Torres, Jesus and Sterling, and bring in only Haaland and a young untested Alvarez. Yes that sounds just like our repsonsible and ambitious club that wants to challenge on all fronts, sure aye.

We spent the entirety of last season missing a striker to replace Aguero. Haaland fills that gap. Alvarez replaces Jesus as a versatile forward player. Palmer, we were told in January, replaced Torres in the squad. Now we're being told he's replacing Sterling as well.

If we do choose not to replace Sterling (looks likely), we'll be losing an important dimension to our attack. I'm sure Pep will tweak things, but I'd like a bit of pace.

With Mahrez's age and contract situation, there's a ready made place for Palmer to take as his successor, (the same goes for Gundo and McAtee).

I really don't believe signing a new winger this summer would harm his development, especially with 5 subs and a ridiculous schedule. Don't forget he can play in midfield too.

Still not seen any fee mentioned but only a 2 year contract seems odd? Perhaps concerns over his recent injury record? Perhaps it's a 2 year loan rather than outright sale and he's already extended here?

Sam has more ground level sources. if anything they might complement each other

Just thinking out loud here, but I've been wondering - with Foden's contract having reportedly been agreed for months, would the pay increase be backdated somehow? It seems odd to have sat on it for so long when he would stand to earn a lot of extra cash from it?

Or has an agreement only just been reached?

Bernie isn't interested in Atletico, which is what Mendes was proposing.

Last year he was trying it on with using Saul Niguez as the makeweight.

Pogba was very much a target for us, but still being told our business isn't done.
