It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I would love us to sign Gnarby but it might be just out of our price range. I don't think we will replace Raz.
Think so too.
Replacing Raz means Palmer's development would be seriously limited as - in terms of minutes - we should also see Foden and Alvarez on RW, IMO.

Palmer is high quality. Can't assess his last injury though, but Pep might have a clear sight.
I hope Palmer is (physically) ready for the next step and gets his chance.

I also think Gnabry is too similar to Alvarez, who wouldn't find that idea too funny at all!

Ok - not commented on years, I'm more of a voyeur but I need to ask. With all the speculating about our forward line and if we need more options if Sterling goes, does anyone know how Kayky is viewed within the club? Thanks
He's quite a light weight & didn't really set the world alight, although has plenty of potential. Hopefully better to come next season.

No clue what the club thinks but as he came this year, has a lot to work on. Was a bit off in the first few games for the EDS but he finished very strongly in the end.

Assists and goals. Good control and dribbler of the ball. Linked up well with the midfield and Palmer closer to the end of the season.

Lightweight as some pointed out but there’s a player with very good potential there.

I did wonder if when Palmer and McAtee, in particular, signed their contracts that they'd been given some assurances that there would be a pathway to the first team for them here.
Whilst it’s a nice thought, it’s hugely difficult to do in practice. There’s absolutely no guarantee that they’d ‘train on’ and football is littered with 22 year old never will be’s who were sensational 19 year olds. Equally there must be a few who’ve blossomed a little later on in their career, after being shown the door elsewhere.
It’s also why I never believe that players can demand more minutes, or be a guaranteed starter. If you’re doing it, you’ll play a lot, if you’re not doing it, you won’t.

if his recent performance for the Brasil sub20s is any measure, bet City would love to just break even some day - keep an eye on Savio instead, supposed to be headed to PSV soon on loan

Just a small matter of salary with Mbappe.
Sure, but we could afford that if we sold those four players for £150m plus getting £600k a week off the wage bill.

I’m not advocating it, it’s just an extreme scenario as to what is possible.

If we just sold Sterling to Chelsea for £55m, say, we could easily afford £40m for Gnabry with him being on similar wages to Raz now.

And give both Haaland and De Bruyne pay rises along with Gnarby. I don't see City going down that route of signing Gnarby. We are done for this season once we sign both Cucrella and Phillips.

Until Sterling to Chelsea became a real option. I don’t think we lose a player of his ability that has done so much for us over the years without bringing someone in. That someone is the big question

Agreed you can't always pay everyone. You have to sometimes rob Peter to pay Paul with FFP.

With Sterling and Jesus and Fernandinho gone (who had the high salary).. Bernardo gets a pay bump.. paying Haaland KDB wages is a possibility and a possible pay bump for Foden and Rodri.

Definitely not enough to cover everyone.

The potential is definitely what is important. Being lightweight maybe won't be an issue.

Mahrez was often overlooked as a young player because he was lightweight despite his talents. I'd wager a lot of those clubs regret thinking it.
