It was interestting to hear that Thatcher detested the yuppies with their obscene flaunting of wealth.

Our glorious leader and King of the World was a Bullingdon club member in those days, burning £20 notes for a laugh in front of homeless people.

I detested Thatcher and her goverment back in the day, but it is indicative of how far the country has swung to the far right when old cabinet ministers like Heseltine and Knott now come over as voices of reason and label the media as nothing more than propoganda sheets.

It was striking last night - Mrs Thatcher's view of her Conservatism was things like more share ownership amongst the general population - its is now and is encouraged to be by this lot - mostly in the hands of the wealthy.
Then there was more home ownership - you have to remember how many people rented council houses when she came to power - she envisaged blue collar workers owning their own homes as a matter of normality - look at the average wage to house price then and the same now. I know right to buy had a number of flaws in it but I just thought as you say that between 1980 and now these Conservatives have changed so much and lurched so far to the Right they have no justification to claim they are somehow "Thatchers Children"

Just see Sunak promising more "help" for business in the budget including a scheme writing off millions in profits.

Keeps those leadership bid donations coming in.

Shevaun Haviland, director-general of the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) couldn't be more right. The Government need to act now to help British Businesses whether the sever problems of spiraling costs, emploee shortages, and higher tax over the next 9- 12 mths.

Let's all sit back and watch them do nothing.
 
On 'Politics Today', they've just shown a historical clip of Mark Francois speaking about the red/blue wall. Not seen a lot of him recently. He must be keeping his head down at the moment.
 
They really don't like being reminded that they are shit do they? Instead of embarrassed and/or apologising their default setting is to attack the messanger bearing the bad news
