BBC piece doesn't mention wages. Funny that :)
The poor bastards.Well they are gonna have a few players wanting pay rises now? VVD was their top earner on £220,000 a week wasnt he and salah was on £200,000? Diaz is allegedly on £56,000 a week!!
Yes but don't forget they still have millions of the Coutinho money to counter balance.5th highest wage bill in the world as per the last set of financial statements.
since then, they've signed Diaz, Jota and nunez for around 200 million, their 8th, 5th and 1st highest transfer fees in their history. It's fair to say the price you're willing to pay for somebody generally dictates their importance and so that will be visible in the wages they'll get too. there's no way your new record £85 million star striker is being paid less than a zimmerframed 86 year old Milner for example so all 3 will be on the higher end of the scale. they've also signed Thiago who is one of their highest earners.
Then on top of all that, they handed out 12 new contracts last season, mainly to key players including Alisson, trent, Robertson, VVD, Henderson and fabinho.
Their wage bill is going to be astronomical in the next set of financial statements released and will go up further the following year.
Working miracles on a shoestring.
Players often have 'highest paid player' clauses in contracts. It doesn't mean they have to be the highest paid player alone but that they will have parity with the one who is. So every Liverpool player with that clause (assuming there are some) will have to get the same salary. That leads to an explosion in wage costs eventually and is money they won't be spending on fees.Hmmm I wonder if they give him what he wanted wages wise, might see a few players knocking on the managers door with similar demands..

Same thing happened at united in 2010, when Rooney supposedly put a transfer request in. The whole affair was a charade to get the Glazers to double the wage ceiling, which is what happened. But not only did the 5 or 6 players with the relevant clause get an uplift, many others wer3 demanding a comparable percentage increase in their (lower) wages.
Still spending the keegan money arent they??Yes but don't forget they still have millions of the Coutinho money to counter balance.

£400k a Week
A club and a Manager that don’t buy expensive players, and don’t pay big wages.
I honestly can’t wait for Kloop to try and explain this in a future press conference.

Not when I read itThey do. Just not in the headline.
Mohamed Salah has signed a new three-year contract with Liverpool.
BBC Sport understands the deal - worth more than £350,000-a-week - makes the 30-year-old the highest paid player in the club's history.
His first sentence will mention us and say we have to pay big wages because city have inflated what players want to get paid...the buck tooth prick.....£400k a Week

Alternatively they could avoid that highest paid player issue by loading the signing fee and having a chunk on the end of contract completion. Adds to the pay bill but might not lead to parity claims.Players often have 'highest paid player' clauses in contracts. But, they don't spend any money. Only City pay massive wages.... They really are hypocrites. He held them to ransom & they caved.
Would imagine there will be a few players now banging on Klopps door asking for parity
