A bid being rejected or not is a matter of fact. You obviously have built up a reputation but you must be wrong occasionally. I don't get what Tony Bloom gets by denying he had rejected a bid Wednesday (or whenever it was) when it seems odds on you are going to pursue Cucurella anyway.
Doesn’t make your Chairman a liar, it’s just context.

I know it’s our forum, and that’s the difference, but some of the Brighton fans are only posting what we are saying about Chelsea and Ake or Barca and Bernardo.

As to the lying thing it’s probably what I mentioned earlier….

Formal and informal bids are not the same thing.

Buying clubs test the willingness of the selling club to sell.

So let’s take the @mattyb info to start with. City might ring Bloom up and say how about cash and a player? Bloom says we just want cash.

City have then done exactly what Mattyb has said but Bloom does not consider it a formal bid as he is waiting for a cash only offer and says they haven’t received anything.

Nobody is lying. It’s context and interpretation.
Thanks for introducing some common-sense into the debate Cobweb. I do wonder whether some of the more angry posters on this site would be so aggressive towards others if they weren't sat behind a keyboard.

Hopefully with Undav we have the goalscoring problem sorted. The thing is we dont pay good wages compaired to other mid table clubs, we have lost players because they are offered more with another club.

This is precisely the reason the deal will get done for anything around the £40 million mark IMO.

Brighton have a solid model on how the club is run, it’s up there with the best in the PL.

It would fuck up completely if Brighton started rejecting bids that would make Cucurella amongst the most expensive full backs in history.

It’s Brighton’s prerogative to set what ever fee they want for a player. But it’s also an agents prerogative to ensure their players gets paid accordingly.

I’ve made my point, but to reiterate.

He’s under pressure from the fans. Booing them off at home last season after a draw shows the fans levels of expectancy has grown.

To be seen to be selling off your best players whilst your season tickets are on open sale is hardly good from a marketing perspective.

He has had his head turned by City interest and the Catalonia connections will increase the desire to move in my opinion.
I understand Brighton fans being upset with our supporters but Manchester City in todays world is a much bigger attraction that it was in the olden days.
As for the Albion fan that posted on here that he is staying put because his wife has just had a baby is a nonsense excuse in my view.
We will see what happens over the next few weeks
Im not upset by City supporters, i know where we are in the food chain, the same would be when we buy from lower league players. I dont think Cucu head has been turned, when a club the size of City or other top 6 clubs its a no brainer. Who wouldnt want to progress. Brighton will be forever a
stepping stone for players to go on to bigger things..
A minority think he will stay, yes they are the deluded ones, i no doubt these were the ones that booed against Dirty or come to hames with f@÷king half and half scarves, thankfully they are a small minority of our fan base, but alot of the media still use that as a stick to beat us with. Imo it just a matter of time until hes a City player.

Just going off topic do you still see always the victims as ur main rivals for the Premier or anyone else. I have been impressed with Spuds transfers to date and i think they could be a real threat.

Ok he is not under pressure from fans I know that for a fact. There is only 1,000 season tickets left so not ideal but not a disaster.

To be seen rejecting an offer for your player of the season from the best team in the world is good for marketing.

I don't see the victims being our main rivals for much longer, it's going to be Chelsea, Newcastle and god forbid those rats over at rag central if and when they get it right.

Half and half scarves I am the same on, they're an abomination.

If I were a Brighton supporter I would be more worried about losing their manager who I think is great, he plays football in the right way and is at a progressive club In a great City. Losing players like Bissouma and possibly Cucurella in a short space of time would infuriate me but the latter hasn’t happened yet.

It’s only good marketing if he stays mate.

Genuinely I think your a bit blinkered. If I hadn’t have proved you wrong yesterday, you’d still be thinking that fans are on a waiting list to become season ticket holders.

I’m close to certain things that happen at city, my info is solid on this one.

Spurs for me this season only marginally better than Liverpool in terms of disliking. Conte is an excellent manager and a winner. The depth of their squad could be a concern as the season goes

Although Jon Moss has now retired so Mr Bloom won’t have access to easy cash on the Asian betting markets now and might need some extra cash!

We will have had a squad overhaul and whilst the players like Haaland and Alvarez are potentially exciting, there are no guarantees. Victims midfield offers me hope. Another year older, more miles on the clock playing King of Cuddles heavy metal football. How long can the asthma inhalers work? Spurs will be closer but surely they’ll be too Spursy. I wouldn’t discount Chelsea.

It’ll be an interesting season at the top for the neutral.

Ok first of all you have me mixed up with the other fella over season tickets. Secondly I suspect most of our fans think Cucurella is going to end up at Man City if you really want him. It is what is drilled into us as Brighton fans. Every player has a price.

Here is Tony Bloom saying so.

The marketing side is about how we replace him if he goes.

It also makes getting a replacement cheaper.

If this was a poker hand hes got 15m already in the pot hoping to win 45m to 60m. He's got a decent hand but not a pair of Kings or Aces. He's probably bluffing the strength of his hand to force City to make a decision.

Another season like the last one and Potter will be off to a far bigger club, he has worked wonders there, he is a manager to keep an eye on, the only question mark is could he handle big name players.

Bloom is a professional poker player, do you really take everything he says as gospel?

I thought you were missing a real clinical striker... surprised if that wouldn't be any prospective move for Cucarella, a stipulation to take Delap on loan (or buy back)

I could see him, Mcatee or both going there

No, this is about him flattly denying a bid for a player that you say has happened. If you are right then that is an outright lie (unless people on here are right and when you say you bid you mean there was a conversation asking if we would accept that and we said nah that aint something we would accept). I know of him well enough that isn't his way. I don't get why he would change just because he is dealing with Man City.
