Cucurella would be an upgrade on Zin. I love Zin and he’s a good player but really as a squad type and nothing more. Much like Delph he can fill in where needed.

And not a LB?? Don’t get me wrong, Zinchenko has done extremely well there for the most part but is not a LB? Be interesting to see how this cancelo and Cucurella situation develops? I really can’t see Cucurella coming in to be squad/rotation player to cancelo? Maybe Joao back to the right?

He doubt he would put in a buy out clause. He hates them. We have only ever had 1 player with that clause under Bloom and that was Aaron Mooy. He refused to sign for us unless he had a £4m buyout clause if a Chinese club came in for him. Needless to say a the following summer a Chinese club came in for him. So Cucurella would have to insist on it, if it did happenWhat Bloom will do is try and insert a buy out clause in the new contract. £50mill or some other stupid figure. Meaning City will think twice. If Cuckoo stays another season, and if he has another good season, City or another club will have to pay the buy out clause next season. Bloom is playing a blinder.

It’s interesting mate. Competition for places is mega wherever you look in our team. I’m not even going to try and understand Peps thinking. Maybe 3-5-2 and could use Walker as a CB like Southgate? (I doubt that by the way :)). The thing is Pep just wants x number of quality players and then it’s on him to keep them happy etcAnd not a LB?? You can’t have a shiny new toy for every position. Like children on here who think any new singing is better than what we already have just because they get to watch a new singing interview on the website etc. Grow up.
Zin is more than capable of doing a great job at LB.
As it stands Pep, Txiki and the club agree with me. Lot of growing up to do for some of you obsessed with shiny new toys for every position. No loyalty to our current squad either. Hang your heads in shame.
Mate - we don’t have to be like the dippers, and rate every player in our squad as ‘the best in the world’ in their position when they’re very clearly not.
It’s ok to acknowledge Zin is an excellent player, and a highly valued member of our squad - whilst also acknowledging there are better left backs out there. I’m pretty sure even Zin himself would agree with that statement.
It’s not disrespectful. We should be striving to improve every year, and if we see an opportunity to improve in a key position, I’d expect the Club to take it.
The conversation isn’t as binary as you’re making it out to be.

We did the same with Ben White. Leeds tried to buy him (even started a free Ben White campaign) after he was loaned to them. We said no and offered Ben a new contract, I suspect during those contract talks we promised him we will let him go next summer if a big team came in for him and our valuation was met.It might be a “if you want him hurry up and put in a decent bid” sort of statement.
But as it says, you would expect Brighton to up his wages after a good season and there is no reason whatsoever why our interest should delay that as, from their point of view, nothing may come of our interest.

Cancelo signing his new contract I imagine was in the back of how many games he played? He’s also one that needs to keep playing when he’s in form? He is also a sulky bastard though ! Lol Pep gonna have to work hard to keep him smiling if he doesn’t play that much. I do wonder if walker might only have one more year with us? Kabore looks a hell of a talent and Kyle has stated he wants to finish his career with Sheffield United so maybe if Cucurella comes in then kabore and cancelo can be our RB options for the next few years with Cucurella and Zinchenko on the left?

I don't see why people are getting worried about this, it's generally a case of 1 out then 1 in. Just like last week with Phillips.
People forget that there are rules about squad size, as we are very happy with our current squad we are unlikley to be selling many more 1'st teamers. Lets say that we sign the guy from Brighton and then Chelsea pull out of the sterling deal. We are then potentially in a situation where we have to sell a player who we would rather keep.
