Spot on. Especially the last 2 lines. Being hungry to play for City is one of the major intangibles that I suspect we look for in players.
With Phillips, and I felt the same way in when people talked about Kane last summer, there's a bit of tribalism that creeps in. Everyone prefers the exotic foreign player rather than the 'known' fella from the league. In all the players that we signed from other PL teams, only Grealish bucked that trend. Walker, Stones, Sterling were all classed as over-priced, not worth it, not good enough etc.
Phillips seems like a nice guy as well, watched a few interviews on YouTube, seems very down to earth. He still plays Sunday league with his mates.
