It’s definitely a risk, signing a 31 year old defender who’s played most of his career in Italy - but he’s undoubtedly a good player.

Just depends how he adapts to what will be a huge change of pace from what he’s used to at this late stage in his career.

I agree it is risk at this stage of Koulibaly's career and they will be looking for another defender in a couple of seasons time, but he seems to the right physical attributes and mentality to cope with what the Premier League has to offer

This guy is highly reliable if you’ve seen him about, saying struggling to agree a fee which makes sense, I’m happy keeping ake unless we get a big offer.

If Sterling hasn’t signed yet we will still be paying. As Tolime guesses it could be something to do with a bonus he is owed.

If koulibaly goes to Chelsea, he's first choice on the left hand side in a 4 or 5.Thiago silva is 96 years old but he's still going to play the big games so that basically closes off Ake's path to be undisputed first choice, if he's going there as a squad player, he's likely going to get more opportunities but not really that much more to justify leaving the back to back champions.

Really hope he stays, the squad has a lot of players who are as yet unproven in a city shirt. For one reason or another, the likes of haaland, alvarez, Grealish, Palmer, Mcatee, Phillips, ortega and potentially cucurella are all still to show Pep they can be trusted, the one area we are currently sorted in is defence, we don't need the upheaval at the back once again with so much settling in happening further up the pitch.

Thats a squad I’m not that worried about.

One that has spent £220m in 20/21; £110m in 21/22; ~£200m in 22/23 (and >£650m in the 5 years before hand). Its exceptional levels of spend (>£1bn) for 1 league title in 7 years. Doesnt get the attention ours does

Hqve a CB options thread to genrally debate replacements for any possibly CB loses, don't be so tacky as to put it in a thread is my opinion.
