Bernardo Silva

If Barca actually manage to convince De Jong to become a rag, then they might be able to magic up enough money to buy Bernardo this summer. That interview felt like it’s still not impossible that he goes this window. Best we can hope for is one more year then he’s gone :(

I don’t think there is a like for like replacement for Bernardo. Bellingham might replace his energy and defensive cover. Foden his creativity, close ball control and dribbling but I don’t know if any other players with his skill set.

Dreadful if Bernardo ending up in Paris with their array of decent but uninspiring midfielders. He might well be still friendly with Mbappe though which may explain the link.
Yes, I forgot Mbappé was at Monaco with Bernardo & Mendy... Mmmmm :-/

Not looking good this...

Don't see the big fuss really.

It's been an open secret that Bernardo's wanted to go for a couple of years. Actually, it's not even a secret - Pep came out and told us all last summer that he was waiting for a move.

But nobody's met our valuation of him yet so he's stuck around. While he's stuck around he's been playing very well and he'll continue to play well this season when we keep hold of him.

He's contracted to 2025. He'll probably leave either in 2023 or 2024, but he won't kick up a fuss in the meantime. That's fair enough - we're in strange times and he wants to be closer to home.

I think it’s pretty obvious he’s wanted to leave for the past 2 Summers isn’t it? His comments aren’t new and all they essentially do is confirm he won’t be signing a new deal at any point.

My guess (/hope) is that when he does go - probably next Summer - then we go big to replace him with Bellingham.

This is why I tell people, do not get attached to players

Applaud the way they play but in the end it is a job, most do not have the same connection to the club, the city, the fans

Some do obviously but how many really

Bernardo for me is a quality player, would i cry of he goes, no, simply because he seems to be after a move. I see that as a lack of respect to us but i am emotionally invested in the club so I will see it that way whilst also knowing it is a 'job' to them.

And around and around we go

At this stage Bellingham isn't fit to make Bernardo a brew let alone tie his laces.

Hang on, are you saying you'd swap Bernardo for Neymar?

Yes, if Bernie wanted the move and Neymar did.

Bernie is my favourite player but if he still has his heart on leaving, then why the hell not, if it included no fee?

We would still need a replacement for Bernie, but Neymar would be more filling the Sterling side.

Pep is no fool, he would not take him if he didn't think he would pull his tripe out, otherwise he doesn't play.

I'm only looking at it through the prism of how Soriano might look at it.

I'm not one of those totally against Neymar joining but I'd prefer straight cash, considering we'd need to sign at least one replacement.

Yep, we would absolutely need to sign another on top of Neymar.

The only issue signing someone like him would be he has a World Cup coming up for Brazil and he won't want to be breaking sweat and risking any type of serious injury.

It's highly unlikely all this, just surprised Bernie hasn't reconsidered his position at the club :(

From what I've heard his performance wasn't great last night. Are we seeing a repeat of last year with him coming back unhappy and his performance level dropping before then picking it up as the season starts.

My worry being there is only so many times he can want a move away and not get it and then us expect him to just get on with it.

He was fine last night, couple of sloppy passes but was pretty much a player in pre-season.

Hopefully even if someone does come in we take the Ake approach

Won’t sell for less than a high price and until we have a direct replacement lined up.

rather than the Zinchenko approach of letting him go then trying to negotiate.

Be devastated to lose him though and think it would throw our season into turmoil no matter who we got in.

Have we offered him a new/better deal?
There were some reports early in the season about a new deal and salary a little more than sterling or so. But Seems he wasn't interested.

Unlike many i don't think Bernardo is irreplaceable. If he wants to go next season he can go provided offer is right and we have signed a replacement.

Obviously he can't go this season as we aren't prepared for his transfer/replacement

I understand what your saying but don't you think a cash deal would be far more beneficial?

We need a wide player and a quality one in my opinion, no way is Pep going to play Palmer as much as people are saying, and if Grealish does not kick on we are seriously short after losing Sterling and Jesus.

If Bernardo does go, we must replace him and that will take serious cash, he to me is our best and most influential player, and yes better than KDB for me.

This is the last window of bonanza agent fees so Mendes will push hard to get Bernardo a move.
