Ali B has to be at the top, what a magnificent footballer, what must he have been in his prime?

A privilege to watch him and Berkovic, both wonderful footballers and together in the same team, ripping the league a new one.

I’d say we probably overrate Ali B as we weren’t used to having anyone with that level of skill. He hadn’t done much in France before coming to us.

He was probably ahead of his time. He’d be an awesome 8 for Pep in his pomp.

Fernandinho and Gundogan in terms of the of the British media right now. They would be regarded as Absolute World Class Superstars if they played for anyone else.

In terms of our own fans I would say Eyal Berkovic, perhaps the only player in my time watching City who would thrive in a Pep team.

I think we'll be talking about Phillips in the same way as Walker in a few years time. I think he's going to be class for us. Even though I was a bit underwhelmed when were linked with him

I think it's definitely plausible. We don't tend to buy players as the finished article. That's the point. We buy players who can go up a notch or two with what's around them to learn from at the training ground. And under the tutelage of the most astute-eyed trainer in the world, bar none.
In any case I won't judge Phillips until he's had a full season at City. The scouting team saw him, Txixi saw him, Pep saw him, they all liked what they saw. Frankly, that's good enough for me, the vast majority of the time.
