Most underrated City player ever?

Inarguably Sterling and Mahrez. The former for his contribution and technical ability, the latter, beside his skills, for his love of the club, humility and professionalism. All other PL fans, including rags and dippers, would be exulting if they had one of both.
Mahrez has certain attributes, but humility is certainly not one of them.

Who do you think is the most underrated city player?

I always though Neil Mcnab was a great little player who didnt get enough credit,
Also a mention for, Gary Owen, wonderful player who should never have been sold when he was.
McNab was a cracking player. I'm sure I read on here a while ago he was quite unwell. Anyone know how he is?

Alex Wiliams deserves a mention. Followed on from a club legend in Joe Corrigan and must have received humungous amounts of abuse from certain sections of fans in those days. Had a pretty decent couple of years for us.
Remember getting a rub of alex’s head during the charlton post match pitch invasion!! a very good keeper

The least lauded members of the 67/8 title winning squad...

Neil Young, Alan Oakes, and David Connor.
Connor played very few matches during the 1967-68 season. The team was very settled after the arrival of Lee in October. The settled squad that season had very few injuries and it left few opportunities for the likes of Connor, Horne, Hince and Kennedy.

Young was top scorer that season with 21 goals and Oakes was near an ever present with 49 appearances. For me both Oakes and Young were up there with the best on that season.

I may well have blue tinted specs on when I think about City in the 60s, but I really don't remember David Connor ever having a bad game. As I recall, he was one of Joe Mercer's favourite players.

As for Neil Young; if anyone from that era deserved a statue, it was Neil.

Although they are both legends for their respective clubs, I thought Lampard and Vieira both did very well in their brief stints here.

I recall going to a mid-week match away at Ipswich. I assume it must have been an FA Cup game. We were in the pub after the match talking to some Ipswich supporters. We were gushing about Bell and Summerbee. The Ipswich supporters were unanimous that Neil Young was by far the best player for City.

Dave Connor. Think he played every position except goal keeper. Don't remember him ever letting us down

Johnny Crossan was one of my favourites.

The key match was during the 1965-66 promotion season. City were neck and neck with Huddersfield and they played at Maine Road on New Years Day. Crossan scored with a superb diving header that was captured throughout Fleet Street. Mike Doyle added a second.

That gave City the edge that they never lost. Huddersfield were eventually pushed back to 4th place behind City, Southampton, and Coventry.

David Silva, I know we love him and we do not underrate him but the media in this country and other supporters did. I once had a raging argument with a Dipper as they were convinced that Coutinho was better... will leave that nugget there
