But if we'd signed Kane we wouldn't have signed Haaland. We got a good deal for Haaland, as he's a generational youngster with the potential to be the world's best, but the whole deal still cost a lot of money - not hugely different to how much we'd have spent on Kane.

Have a look at our accounts, we spend nearly all our revenue on player costs - there isn't tons extra just sitting around.

But we make plenty as well, it's not as dire as people are imagining, we can easily afford to spend more this window but the strict policy means there's no overspending if a player is valued way higher than what he should be on market.
