It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Got a feeling Alvarez be better and more clinical than both of them put togther. His finishing is miles better than both already
He does look good and I’m excited to see him but, just for context, he has scored twice yesterday against a team (Union) that are about the same standard as Cardiff City.

Its a long time since I’ve seen such a wonky defensive line.

No need for us to expect too much too soon In the PL.

Laugh if you want but he is the real deal. The way he beats a keeper to score is something you see very, very rarely in world football.

I like him too, lets see if he can score 1 goal for City before you start shouting about how he's better than the clubs 10th highest goalscorer of all time. There's been a million and one South American superstars who were destined for greatness and not gone on to score 150 goals in Europe's top flight competitions.

It's really quite embarassing how quick some fans are to try and sell everyone as better than Sterling.

Not only have we had half a dozen players come through the side and leave who were supposed to displace him and failed, now we have academy players and kids who've not kicked a ball outside South American football being paraded around as better than

Embarrassing that you

Have you ever been to the etihad?
Watching players 'live' can give you a different opinion

I realise you are talking to Domalino and I’m sure he will reply but imagine ( to take an extreme example) that you watch a Sunday league team live and one player is brilliant…stands out a mile. He is signed by a conference side and is completely outclassed.

I have high hopes for Alvarez at City but he has proved zero. He has a chance.

Alverez: Great movement and a stunning sense of where the goal is and doing the expected to beat a keeper. He's not SA player of the year for nothing.
He's ahead of Raz there. Correction, Raz may well know where it is but often misses putting the ball into it.

Before you attack, please have a think on how many absolute sitters he's cocked up. That said, I'm not saying he doesn't have good and useful attributes but the lad is not a ruthless goal scorer.

It is easy to be dismissive about a player like Alvarez coming from a different league, and I suspect he will need some time to adapt, but Argentina is one of the world's leading football nations, 2nd in South America. He is the South American footballer of the year and has been quoted to be 'the future of Argentinian football'.

The other thing that I am reminded of is that we dominate a lot of games, so a player like him, or Haaland, will have chances, even if the players in the opposition may be of a higher standard than they face every week.

And another that I am reminded of is the number of people who told us that Pep wouldn't be able to do it in the Premier League, and that his style of football would not work.

In short, give any new player a chance, while appreciating those we have, and know that we rarely get it wrong in the transfer market these days.
