Exactly,it's the watch I get most comments on,I thought my Rolex explorer would be the one for a lot of comments but no the blue dial Omega Seamaster is the one that stands out like the dogs bollocks:)

It's a class act, that dial is a masterpiece. It's very understated, and as such, at 1500 quid or so, a cast iron investment.
You can actually use it as well, doesn't need to be cosseted, it can take the odd knock.
I've got a planet ocean at the moment, and I love it to bits, but that smp is probably the best all round watch I've ever owned.
I'll definitely get another at some point, auto, full size, box + papers. Just need to stop selling them ;-)

I don't think mobile phones were made a 100 years ago
I am not planning on checking the time 200 metres under water anytime soon and the moon seems a pretty boring place, no pubs or TV reception
Trust it with my life? Not sure its likely someone with a gun will shoot me if I get the time wrong although I could show him my phone.
My son has more money than me he can buy his own watch. He will remember me everyday because I plan to haunt him.
It is possible to lose or have a watch stolen even a good one.

Anyhow enjoy your watch you seem very attached:-)

Got mine last year £3,500 brand new,I believe they are going for £4,500 brand new now, mine was valued at £4,000 a few weeks ago,not a bad investment

Not that it matters much, but has he had the bezel insert replaced at some point? I only ask as they are normally a bit more scratched up, especially if they've been dailyed. Pearl looks off centre, it could be a cheap aftermarket part. No big deal but worth knowing.
Certainly wouldn't stop me buying it.

I’ll ask him but I know he recently had it serviced for ~£300. Not sure who did it though

That's a good thing to have a recent service. It's obviously not an omega service if he's only paid 300, but that's not necessarily bad.omega replace things like clasps, crowns, glass, hands, even dials unless you specifically ask them not to.
You want the watch to remain as original as possible, you can't buy patina or originality.
It's an easy movement to work on, any decent watchmaker can service them. Buy it, but if you decide not to, I'd be interested myself.
2 minutes on ebay, this came up.
It's a no brainer at 1500 mate. Get it bought.

Rolex ad's can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.
I'm in there, wearing a 6k omega, and I enquire about a new sub. I'm only enquiring as the sub now has a decent case size, which suits my wrist. Anything less than 41mm looks shit on my wrist.
She tells me I have to go on a waiting list. OK I'll think about it I say.
I call in again about a month later, this time I'm wearing my vintage speedmaster, worth about 8k, and I'm genuinely looking for a light brown hirsh strap for it, which I know they have. I buy the strap, and again casually ask about the availability of a sub.
Now at this point, they know me, I've been in the shop numerous times with a bit of money on my wrist, merc parked outside. I've got the money to buy a sub.
They suggested I buy a 36 fucking mm explorer, that had been in the window for 18 months. With a salmon dial.
They'd seen my 44mm planet ocean, and my 42mm speedy, yet they recommended to buy some shitty explorer that we both knew was wrong.
I'd love the new sub, I'll buy one second hand, when it suits me.

Haha interesting mate.
Perhaps they thought your watches were fakes, and they couldn't see your Merc, did you wear nice clothes ? :)
