Yeah true, it’s why the reports have been rife with us pulling out, us looking at other targets and what them targets would be. Tolmie posted how last week we was preparing a higher bid. It was reported elsewhere too. That suggests we was still in for him. sad that people see it as moaning instead of having a healthy debate, but anyone moaning on here will have no influence on the transfer or not mate. The people working on the transfer do
 
You dont truly know how stubborn someone will be until you give them time to be stubborn.
Anyone who thinks we “knew the price from ths start” have never negotiated anything in their life.
Theres always a starting price. Some people soften, some people dont but you dont know from the start who has the balls to turn down £40m!

You should put so much faith in reports. Half of them are put out by us, the other half by the other side.

It’s very easy, it’s been very clear from the off we aren’t paying 50m and that’s what they want. Similar to with Kane and as I say I don’t mind us pulling out if we aren’t happy but don’t waste time when there’s no movement.

Maybe we believed there was some room for some negotiation and so negotiated. Seems to only be in the last few days that negotiations broke down.

You have no idea whether we have just been targeting Cucurella or have been looking at other options at the same time. Or for how long meningful negotiations have been going on or when they started. Or whether BHA have been leading City down the garden path as you state. So to conclude that this has been handled poorly by City is a strange assumption imo.

Well considering we offered 30 and nothing else from there sounded like there wasn’t a lot of negotiating. Quoted from the start they want 50 and guess what….. drum roll please…… they are about to get it from Chelsea. I’d say it was obvious from the start what they wanted. Just like how they played it with White
 
I could see us just responding with the £50M now if we get some assurances behind the scene that he’d prefer to play at City. The £40M was always to me a negotiation position but if the demand exceeds the supply we lose any leverage we thought we seemed to have in that position.

Again, try to read my post carefully. I said that I didn't have access to what was going on behind the scenes. So, obviously, it is guesswork on my part. As with 99% of the posters on here. But it seems you only want to pull me up on it. Fair enough; you've got a beef with me about something. PM me, if you want to clarify what it is I've done to upset you.

Well we would all like to assume,surely you included,that we are getting a specialist LB in the club before the transfer window closes,ideally before Sunday,but realistically before 31 Aug

Opposition rotation injuries. It’s why we don’t have only 1 player per position.

Except left back of course where we have none or half of one depending on your view.

I've always said LB is the hardest position to recruit for. The best LBs are natural lefties and have decent pace. Add in attacking and defensive quality and its really hard to find decent players that fit that mould. In other positions you can get away with a mix of qualities but a LB has to have it all.

Over the years the position we have always struggled with is LB. Dont think we have had a genuinely great one in my lifetime.

No issue or beef with you at all and no need for a PM. I just don't agree that City have handled the attempted transfer poorly as you state. I dont understand your reasoning for such a statement? We just differ in our opinion and conclusions.
 
If Cancelo is our outright LB and we seem to have cover in Ake, Laporte, JWE, then we need to sign cover at rightback. Walker can’t play 60 games!

I think this one is over mate.

We hit an impasse, where all three parties were pissed off, entrenched and unwilling to budge - at which point Chelsea got all Ed Woodward on this thing and turned up with the full asking price, no negotiation, and tied up the deal.

I don’t think the Club have any appetite to up their bid - and I support them completely in that!

I hope so yes. But I also assume that Pep didn't rate Cucurella highly enough to pay £50m for him.
