As long as we've got other left backs in our sights i couldn't care less about Cucurella.
We do need a good left back though

All our targets this summer have been widely reported in the media. If we have another left back in mind the club has, this time, kept it super secret.

We're the richest club in the world, in profit on the transfer window so far and were arguing over £10 million or so for a player who appears to solve a big problem area for us and apparently fits us like a glove?

Something doesn't quite add up.
It's principles. We don't get shafted.

Just pay whatever they ask is amateur. That's United.

Yeah, i think we really wanted this kid.
Seems weird we're worrying about 5-10m if that's what it is, when you think how much we've paid/wasted on some other players

Maybe so, but we have weakened ourselves because of arrogance in thinking we had our target in the bag, well that what it looks like from afar, bizarre to let any player go without a replacement lined up, especially in a position we are already weak in
Maybe we have. Maybe JWE will be the reincarnation of Roberto Carlos by January. Who knows.

I think we were relaxed with Zinchenko leaving or not. We put a bid in for Cucurella and it wasn't accepted, if we were as desperate as some think then we would have bid more.

We may yet sign a LB and we will never know if Cucurella will be better or not.

They way zinchenko was upset, I don't think he didn't want to be here. He would have got enough playtime with world cup and all
He would be in the Ukraine team even with him sitting on our bench, so that's irrelevant.

I understand he wants to be playing week in week out, so he should, he is too good to be getting splinters, but he leaves when it suits us, IE when a replacement is in.

Precedent suggests we should be calm. Missing out on transfers often proves a dodged bullet. Jorginho, Maguire, Ronaldo, Koulibaly, Kane... If I had to guess right now, I'd guess we get in a left-back who's largely agreed to be better than Cucurella three years from now. But then I still don't really get the Cucurella hype.
All of those players - bar probably Ronaldo and maybe Maguire - would've been outstanding at City.

Wasted a lot of time and effort on yet another player we had zero chance of obtaining for the fee we were prepared to pay ( same with Kane last season)

No issue with the club not paying above our valuation but why fuck about for so long with a deal that would never be accepted?
Do you honestly believe the club would deliberately waste time and effort with Brighton if they knew from the outset it was never going to happen. Do you think they are that incompetent and naïve?

We break the bank for a player didn’t and STILL don’t need - freakish 100 mill? what the fuck! and won’t pay half that for a position desperately needednot filled since....I can’t remember, Mendy?
Pep will get some midfielder and crowbar him in to full-back? the man is stubborn beyond belief and we know it but never say it - break the bank for a left back ffs!

If hes regarded as world class the price is £50m just like Walker and Mendy.

If hes not regarded as world class then why have we been in for him in the first place.

Seems madness unless there is something not obvious going on.

Wait, are you saying Pep is the stubborn one in this situation?

And still win the league for us 4 out of 5.

Calm down.

Further back than that. Clichy and Kolarov.

His off the field sojourns aside, Mendy was fucking dog shit as a footballer. The worst signing in the history of the club.

We are incredibly well run but this deal and the Kane situation last year makes me think sometimes we do some very strange things.

Do you think we always get it right? And we never make errors?

Our dealings in this window so far have been outstanding but this from a far looks a total F up, unless we have another rabbit to pull out of the hat like when Dias signed.

Haaland , new keeper and Phillips all brought in quickly with little fuss, but arguably our weakest position and a problem for a long time we have left until days before the season starts.
