I think the fascinating thing about this season is that Pep has basically built two great City teams: the all out attacking centurions and the highly controlled dominance of lockdown. I think he has all the pieces for a third that blends the best of both but it's going to be fascinating watching how he does it. I think Kalvin might have a bigger role in that than we might think if we are going with the double pivot.
Yeah 100% agree. It will be fascinating to see how the team evolves over the season.

Very steady performance. Some nice touches, passes and crosses. Most impressed by his movement when the City defender or midfielder got ahead of him, in that he slid into the defensive cover space.

Excellent team performance from him.

How many postions can this lad play ? He adapts to Pep's requirements , he just doesnt do a job either , he excels no matter were he starts on the pitch , no longer a prospect a fully fledged first class player , he could go down as the most decorated English player ever to play the game.
He just needs to keep his head down avoid any controversies the media will try and stitch him up with , and he will be a one of the all time great City players.

Can play anywhere, but still don't think RW is his best position, but Pep clearly wanted to start Grealish and wanted Foden so here we are.

That being said, he did good. Kept the ball well, dribbled in the few moments he thought it was necessary. I can see Pep rotating him in the attacking midfield spots for rotation as well, simply because he can just play anywhere, and I think it's his future position.

Both he and Jack made good chances. Haaland could have scored 2 more from them.

He was good but he's so much better on the left.

Foden getting to the byline and cutting the ball back to Haaland for a tap-in could be a big source of goals for us.

After spending last season as the sacrificial lamb in the false 9 position, I hope Pep doesn't keep switching his position this year too. Nowhere near as impactful on the right. He needs to be in his best position most weeks to see the best from him and that's clearly left wing. Play your best players in their best positions and fill gaps with the rest. Bernardo suffered from his versatility earlier in his career, hope Pep doesn't continue doing it with Foden. Our front 3 when everyone is fit and fresh should more often than not consist of haaland upfront, foden on the left and the other is up for debate.

Needs to be allowed to make the position his own.Its where he plays best.

I believe that front trio could be our best if allowed to develop and form an understanding.

pep is giving grealish a chance to win the left wing spot so jack avoids the press and fans backlash of being benched/underperforming. thats why he found a new position for foden, but yeah, its not ideal

Not really a new position for the lad..he destroyed Liverpool at Anfield a couple of years ago scoring that superb goal,,and was man of the match at Wembley against Villa in the league cup final playing wide right.Foden can play anywhere, and such a gifted ,two footed skilful player is invaluable to any Football Manager... like Pep who likes to keep the oppennent guessing by switching multi talented, versatile players around, fluidly,....it's wonderful to watch,..it's Art of the highest order.
I don't worry about position,....but the opposition do.

Wet spam were run ragged yesterday.

The days of rigid formation are gone..
Relax..and enjoy our players exhibiting the mind of a tactical magician.

Pep is a footballing Genius.
