Bernardo Silva

Sounded like he got a bit emotional for a second when asked about Bernardo in the embargo.

Plenty of value left next summer, as contract runs to '25.
No way are we going to let him go to that bunch of incompetents this late in the transfer window.
Our decision makers are under an obligation to do what is right for us, not what their friends would like to happen.
I am very uncomfortable with us having any dealings with them, until all the levers, cogs, wheels and other complete bull has been sorted and they are in a proper financial position where they can make a realistic offer. No, uefa will not send them to wherever they actually send naughty teams, as they are too important to uefa financially, for any punishment.

Screenshot_20220813-001745_Samsung Internet.jpgplease can someone just come out and say he's 100% not leaving. Pep also says that the only reason we would buy another play is if someone leaves...

Neymar didn’t go for that, nor did Coutinho tbf. And the economic situation is very different now. Don’t get me wrong, I value him enormously but we’re not going to price him out of a move. If he goes this summer, and I don’t think he will, it’ll probably be circa £80m. Next summer it’ll be circa £50m with a year less on his contract.
Sterling and Jesus went for around £50mill with 1 year left so I’d say £60+ mill for
Bernardo with 2 years left

I agree, he’s just turned 28 this month, no team will wait until he is out of contact when he will be 31. Hope he stays at least this season then at 29 he should still have at least 5 years left and I would imagine 60-65m would be the mark. We have a decent transfer surplus already, hopefully 17 year old Peter Pan-Bellingham is being lined up for next season.

Without De Jong leaving theres basically no chance for Barça to get Bernardo. If the dutch leaves then watch out
See, this is the fuzzy part. My understanding is that they need to sell de jong to be able to register the seven-ish people they have already bought this summer. If they somehow buy Bernardo after they sell de jong, does this mean a sixth lever is incoming?

They have registered every signing besides Koundé, which they will after releasing/selling some players. De Jong is the highest earner on the squad, so, if he leaves they can fill a new high salary, like Bernardo's.

They have plenty of cash in hand as of right now, their issue is with salaries and la liga wages ceiling

It's a complete mystery to me how any player or agent could sign a contract with Barca in good faith in light of what has been happening with FDJ, Pique, etc.
Some people think it’s a wonderful City and that conquers all. I can tell them, if you’re in the shit, it doesn’t matter where you are, you’re still in the shit.

So this 4th lever lets Barcelona register all their players apart from Kounde and M.alonso. While DeJong is still at the club.

They will register those two by getting rid of players like Depay, who they are now offering up free of a fee for anyone who will take him (step up Juve, they love a freebie), Pjanic, aubameyang possibly etc. And Pique supposedly forsaking whatbhe is owed and paying them to play for them.

So chances are, the claims that selling DeJong puts them in a position to sign Bernardo, are true/right, the transfer fee is comparable, the wages will be significantly less.

Might then cone down to our club's willingness to accept an amount or the timing of the deal. Still think it will be too little too late myself. But looks a lot more possible than it did last week.

Let’s be honest about it, Kyle Walker at the age of 20-21 played 16 times in a season and cancelo at the same age had played less than 15 games in a season for Valencia. Yes the Belgian league isn’t at the level of the 2 mentioned teams, However, he was player of the season for Anderlecht so I have confidence in the decision pep and Txiki etc are making.

It's just crazy to think we'd sell him with what could be a week or two left in the window.. I get that Pep wants to look out for his guys but I think sometimes we have to be the 'bad guy' and just say," they signed 5-6 other players before you. It's too late". We'll see..

Nothing yet in it. He started vs Liverpool and our first games are (were) tricky but are not against high intensity opponents
