Gas & Electricity

We’ve decided that the heating will go on 3 times a day, one hour in the morning just as we get up, one hour around middle of the day, and an hour at night. Just hoping for a mild winter although you know with our luck it there will be polar bears out there this Xmas! The rest of the time it will be blankets and using hot water bottle for bed. The wife works from home and goes in 1 day a week I’ve said she can start doing more if it’s that cold she wants the heating on, let work pay the bill. Our gas bill is the main cost in the house as electric is pretty constant over the year and we hardly use any during the summer. If we can keep the gas down then we will manage.
Let’s hope lots can do this and watch them fucking profits drop, fuck em.
So are you prepared to live like this winter after winter mate.
This is the attitude the elites in this country rely on the mustnt grumble British attitude...they piss themselves laughing at this behind closed doors
Get it through your head mate the elites have contempt for you and make do and mend won't cut it

How are you helping the revolution?

Enjoy paying your £500 monthly energy bill next year mate whilst the elites drink champagne....
It was intended to be light hearted so apologies for any offence caused. I'm more than happy to discuss how ordinary people best mobilise to change things.

If you only used wind & solar generated electricity you would need a good supply of candles as most days it only generates about 25% of UK supply
You can check out how much is generated by each means via this link
I agree but this also proves that renewables are nothing but a marketing sham (in our system). How is it right at least from a trading standards point of view that you can buy into a 100% renewable tariff which can be affected by changes in gas prices? It's like buying an electric car where electricity is charged vs petrol prices.

This system is just so ridiculously inflexible that the only regulatory power the regulator actually has is to set one single arbitrary price cap for the whole shabang every 3-4 months. There's zero transparency on their decision making and well after that they close up shop and disappear. The regulator should be urgently coming up with a solution which takes us away from the price cap because right now it doesn't help consumers, that's literally their job so what are they doing all day?

I don't know if it's possible but personally I'd see if we can fire up the coal burners again to relieve the dependence on gas. We just don't have any choice whilst people are facing really bleak choices this winter.

Absolutely not pal but I also don’t want to get into debt either. I know what you mean but they don’t give a shit if I’m cut off or not so I’ll do everything in my power to do that and then next elections I’ll make sure the cunts never come back

I wouldnt be normally in favour of it either BUT this has gone way too far and its been obvious for so so long that the established elite have absolutely zero care for the average person. Its either that or they are so out of touch and ignorant that they dont realise what they are doing and I dont believe that for a second.
The poverty line is going to go higher and higher endangering more and more lives just so the 1-2% of the most wealthy can carry on getting wealthier and wealthier....
I work in a reasonably well paid job as does my partner - we have one little one...I earn around 25k a year...my partner earns about 35k a year.......and we are going to start to struggle soon if this carries on... That is not right and thats no OK. ( I also realise that Im/we are still way better off than some who are already struggling and will now do so even more).....hundreds or thousands of kids and families are going to be plunged into poverty....choosing between eating and heating their homes...thats not ok

This has literally nothing to do with the war in the Ukraine and what Russia are doing (and while thats terrible it is irrelavant to the rising costs)....this is about profiteering and the government backing the established elite....

Their needs to be rioting, their needs to be trouble and strikes (see the posties have started today and I fully back them as I do the rail workers and any other public sector workers - the NHS should have done it the moment the pandemic was over) - this regime have shown they have zero regard for any political process and any counter argument. Government isnt democratic anymore...its about one party fighting another for their agenda.....not the peoples wishes but an agenda without any regard for getting together and listening to what is best and doing what is best for the people of this country....they are civil servants...nothing more, yet they are not serving us...they are serving themselves.

Im 47 years old, educated and Im past the point of listening to them (and sections of the media who push the government narrative- look at the BBC website where they are blaming the price rises on the Ukraine war - we get 4% of our resources from the Ukraine and other European countries get more yet their governments have done things to stop the price rises where as ours wont)...

There will be a break down in law and order as people can only be pushed so far....and it cant come soon enough
I agree with absolutely everything you say, I’m 78 mate and have lived through more than you. If rioting ensues where does that leave us? Worse off I think. What people might try doing is making it more difficult for these elites, celebrities, big corporations stop sucking up to them and hit them where it hurts. The rate at which the working classes squander what bit of extra cash they have amazes me. Many spend it on trash, keeping up with the Jones it used to be called. The working classes need to get money savvy and organised.

Bills will more than double, mortgage...petrol has more than doubled (living in cornwall means usually a lot of drivinf and public transport aint an option)...we pay one of the highest rates for water in the country as well. Nursery fees are £750 a month for starters. Cornwall is one of the most costly places to live in the country yet with one of the lowest rates of pay (if not the lowest)...there is a huge housing crisis down here cause people cannot afford to get on the property ladder....

As I said we will start to struggle if it goes up again in January as expected. I also said I realise that there are people are a lot worse off than we are but where does it stop and what about those people that are worse off.

Your reaction (focus) to my post shows the disconnect between people and why this corrupt government keep getting away with it....not having a go at you it just exemplifies the ease of divide and conquer. My post wasnt really about me and i just used my household income as an example...the post was about the corruption within the system.

Edit....after tax as you are well aware it doesnt even come close to 60k a year either

Those nursery fees are the killer tbf mate.

That’s a fucking lot of money.

Yes, you have a very good point there. I know there are a lot of people that really are in trouble, but my daughter mentioned this morning that there was a huge thread on Facebook where someone was asking what people would do with the £400 "bonus" - that's what they called it - that the government are giving to help towards energy prices, and lots of people were saying they're going to buy Christmas presents early, or put it towards a holiday. Many of them really don't understand what it means to actually be completely broke.

Yes they are..they reduce in a few months when he turns 3 as you get so many hrs free a week once kids get to that age so will be able to claw back a little at least.....prob about £100 a month total
