Are you allowing yourself sufficient recovery? Every third or fourth week should be low mileage, otherwise you will burn out. Also, it would be wise to taper for at least a week before the GNR. If you have an easy week now, I reckon you'll be fine.Great North Run next Sunday….
2 weeks ago I was really looking forward to it, did 17km at 5:50km which I was more than happy with.
Last week went for an 18km run and it was horrible, had to walk a few times and was 6:43km pace so a real step back.
This morning, wanted to do 12km and only managed just over 4km. My calves were sore for some reason and just became too painful.
So next week could be a disaster
