I realise she doesn't play for us anymore. However, I thought this was a very good article on Rose Lavelle. If i could i'd have her back at City in a heartbeat.

I was at the match last night. She was electrifying, all over the pitch and you felt as if something was going to happen whenever she got the ball. There was a dad with his two daughters behind us. From their conversation it was obvious they were the football fans and he had come along with them. The fella absolutely fell in love with her for her skill, pace and toughness for her size.

And if anyone is wondering, the stadium had a standing section, and you could have beer at your seats and that included having it in the standing section. Hell, they had men and women walking around during the match with a basket of 24 ounce tins selling it in the stands.

ESPN: Lavelle leads USWNT in win despite seeing Nigeria snap impressive shutout streak. https://www.espn.com/soccer/blog-the-match/story/4740266/rose-lavelle-leads-uswnts-fluid-attack-in-win-despite-seeing-nigeria-snap-impressive-shutout-streak

I expected Keira Walsh to be the next to go. Who will be next to go, Hemp or Kelly? I'm thinking Hemp. Arsenal and Chelsea must have something special in that they seem to avoid losing their better players. Perhaps we should be asking them what the secret is. Or just perhaps ask our men's team. Goodness me, that I was expecting this doesn't make it any more palatable.

The club is really going to miss the wave with womens football if this exodus isn’t stopped. No one looks happy. The issue with Ellen Whites “treatment “ can’t have helped.

I want to be reassured by both of those two being under contract for longer, but if people are offering serious fees for players now then they're probably vulnerable as well.

We need to start running things more like the men's team.

It is shame that our women's team is going backwards just at the time when women's football is exploding across the world. It's not like City to be so complacent. I would love to know what the problem is in our female squad. A club like City shouldn't be losing players at the rate we are.

From an outside perspective, it looks like the club backing Gareth Taylor has caused the entire squad to leave. But maybe it's not that. Hopefully not.

I feel it’s a combination of two things…the wage cap in England and possibly the feeling of a lack of improvement.

With the resources and some of the players that have come and gone, they’d have thought they would have done better in some of the competitions they’ve been where they’ve been ejected swiftly.

Also, seeing your former teammates getting bigger wages as well as playing in prestigious clubs within the women’s game will possibly make one strive for that. People who usually back themselves and talent will strive to prove they can hack it with other talented players.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

i agree about the wages cap but how come Arsenal and Chelsea seem better at hanging on to their best players?

I'm no expert but that would suggest that it isn't a wage cap issue, or at the very least it's more than that. Chelsea and Arsenal have some very fine players, why don't they leave? Very, very frustrating when you know it would not, or indeed, does not happen with our men's team.

The timing is certainly very unfortunate considering the upsurge of interest in the women's game, and as you rightly say unlike City to be complacent. The club do not settle for second best generally but the current mood appears, at face value, to be just that.

If Bronze and Walsh are a couple, it seems odd that we were willing to let Bronze leave. Did we even offer her a new contract?

We are up shit street without a paddle if we are going to sell players in two's because they share toothpaste.

Yeah, there's no way it's just the cap. Even if that is the issue, as the cap is set as a percentage of income with direct cash injection allowed, that still makes it a matter of City's investment and ambitions for the women's team.

Sadly, that's not been the case on this side for a while. The recruitment strategy is noticeably different for a start, and the level of coaches they've employed has been for off what we've tried to do on the men's side. It's like being stuck in 2015 with Pellegrini.

The claim when Bronze left was that we'd decided we didn't want to keep her, presumably as part of a restructure. Only for her to talk about negotiating with Barca and Lyon well before the season ended, which doesn't exactly sound like the move of someone City would want rid of.

They leave in their droves mate, maybe they are drawn to the better shopping and the beach themselves? They don't have to convince male players that these 2 things are important.
I didn’t think the two are comparable as the money offered there is much higher too, unlike the men.
