Even if they later get all of the income they would have received over these 10 days—very unlikely given the difference between the seasonal periods in which the games will be played—that is income delayed by four months (going in to winter).

That is yet another unnecessary hardship born by those least able to bear it.

That’s without the days pay people up and down the country are losing or the cost of train fares , hotels etc . If we are going to do this weeping and wailing properly then close all but essential shops and services for the duration .
