Chelsea-Liverpool, United-Leeds, Brighton-Palace all off, rest of the games on (pg 128)

She gave us 70 years.

The least the public can do is give up a weekend of football.

I don't think many can quite comprehend what a huge moment in time this is, irrespective of your own viewpoint.

It's bigger than any sport, stuff our great grandchildren will be reading about in school 100 years from now.

Certainly not did City fuck up again at home to Spurs this weekend.
As others have already stated,it would have been anything but disrespectful to fulfill the fixtures....its a fantastic opportunity missed and one that can't be recovered.

Is this your living room? ;)

Does it have to be?

Correct. Not a surprise though is it. These guys can’t organise anything.

saw a pretty good take on reddit about the prem cancellations - football matches suck up a lot of police presence and planning, its about the cops, they're needed elsewhere physically and the security planning and admin spent on observances instead - cricket and golf don't suck up nearly the security resources for instance, so can go ahead and play, shrug
This was mooted even before they officially cancelled this morning, that it would possibly be due to this reason . At first I thought this was the PLs get out clause, say sorry, it's respectful, plus there's no coppers and we should respect the right to gather to mourn (or something). Get the brownie points and legitimise it. But they haven't mentioned it at all. Then I wondered if they didn't because they didn't want to caveat the cancellations. And now I have no idea. The simple fact it's football is playing on my mind a bit.

Too many forelock-tuggers on here who need to get off their knees.

I think her Majesty was a model of stoicism and clearly a fan of sport. I doubt she would have wanted to impact financially on individuals or families in the way the sporting decision will inevitably do. I think she would want folk to carry on as she did throughout many challenges in her reign. I also agree as others have said pre ko could’ve been very special in terms of people genuinely paying respect and reflecting on her life.

Nah respect for people in mourning isn't bullshit. It just isn't. I'll leave you guys to it though, I didn't think people would be so triggered over missing a days football.
Apologies for my tardy reply, I’ve just been up a bell tower fixing a bell to ring 96 times for the queen.

You keep telling everybody that you mourn better than others though.

It’s actually mad the amount of grown men in this thread moaning about a weekends football being cancelled. Is your life that dumbed down and devoid of anything else that a game being postponed affects you so much?
What about partially grown men?

You take that high ground and stick your nose as high as it will go.

There’s about 10 of you now that feel the same. Not sure who made you moral arbiters, but there you go.

Opinions hey?
