Manchester City have now scored 4 goals in a single UCL match for the 20th time, with 17 of those coming under Pep Guardiola. (source: Man City Sky Blues)

He isn't though. Of course he knows it isn't optimal. He's just taking calculated gambles to get everyone on the pitch. He puts teams out on the pitch that he thinks he'll maybe get away with all the time, for various reasons - fitness, trying to keep players motivated and happy etc.

If we, us no nowt layman fans, can predict it'll be slow and testing to watch before the game, I can guarantee you Pep knows too. He'll expect it to go like this but hope we have enough to get by, and if not, call in the cavalry. It's his job to do this and make the big calls and 9 times out of 10 we get the result we want so he won't be arsed.

Yes thats true but at least he had the balls to see what we all saw and took off those players who were shite and brought on the 3 players who made all the difference.

Nah, don’t buy that. We’ve not played for 7 days, we’ve only got 1 more game before an international break and he picked a team that was always going to struggle, and what a surprise it did. We got out of jail tonight due to 2 wonder strikes.

He has always prioritised the Champs league and for some bizarre reason tonight he picked an underwhelming line up. No idea why.
 
Tried something in the first half that will probably resurface again at some point with little tweaks in future games. Clever manager. I’m in awe.

That's the whole point Rammy, we've only one more game and he can't guarantee their international managers will give them minutes, they need minutes. PL is far less forgiving, doesn't really make a difference first or second in our group.
 
With a difficult game Sat lunchtime, I don't think Pep did much wrong last night. Picked a team that he thought could do the job against Dortmund whilst resting key players for Sat.

Whilst the starting line up wasn't able to get the job done, he changed it in ample time and it worked out.

Don't have any problems with that

Are rodri kdb and haaland not key players? I don't think foden gomez alvarez have had loads of games.

He had a plan and it turned out bobbins so he changed it, simple as that. Let's hope he doesn't try it again in a must win game.

He cannot select the same 11 week in, week out so still had to play some key players.

He started with a line up he thought would work, and made timely changes when it didn't.
