It was also the first year of VAR in the league and referees were refusing to make decisions unless a player went to ground, it's no surprise that a team who's main tactics was to run fast and throw themselves to the ground at the lightest touch did well that year by 'winning' games through soft decisions going their way by pkaying on referees insecurities.
I don't think it's a massive coincidence that Liverpool and Leicester have struggled to adapt since referees have decided that contact doesn't necessarily mean foul. Liverpool have kind of got their act together but Leicester have been more exposed by the changes.
Yep, can't remember the last time I saw Salah dive. It used to be several times a game. Definitely been given instructions.

There is a BBC HYS on Nunez today.
Some hilarious comments from Dippers being wound up by both our fans and Rags.
Some amazing stuff on Twitter as well, apparently the latest is that ‘Haaland is a better finisher but Nunez has the best movement in the world’
I can only assume they are talking about his bowels

They are delusional about everything.

I tried mentioning to the ones i know about the transfer fee difference between him and Erling and they go straight into "well you paid the agent and his Dad £30m each so he's more expensive really"

I said where did you get that from? And doesn't Nunez have that 'super agent' Mendes, so i bet you had to pay him a load of money?"

"Nah that was included in the fee"

LOVL YCMIU!!!

Nah, they won the league fair and square that season. They were 20 odd points clear.

It’s just a shame there was no one there to see it.
I think 'fair and square' is pushing it when a lot of points were gained by fooling and pressurising weak and confidence drained referees. They gained a LOT of points by diving, handballing, kicking, pushing and various other acts of assorted shithousery, it's easy to play with confidence when you know you can get a free kick or penalty whenever you need one.
They may have still won the league without VAR but "fair and square"? Not for me. When a team's main game plan is to create contact and deceive the referee then "fair and square" doesn't come into it.
The best I can say is that they took advantage of a unique refereeing situation and made sure they made the most of any advantage they were offered whether it was within the rules of the game or in the spirit of fair play or not (usually not).

Goal disallowed for a "push on a defender" (about as obvious as the Frontzec penalty for the rags) when Southampton would've gone 1-0 up.
Numerous "accidental" handballs ignored in build-up to goals for.
Playing "fergie time" to get (and score) late "dived and won" penalties against Leicester.
Strange refereeing decisions against Chelsea. Equalizers being disallowed for being mm's offside "in the build up".
Strange going's on against us.
The list is almost endless for that season

People's memories of how favorably they were reffed that season astonishes me.

Just had a look at the City thread on RAWK and my word, they’re absolutely rabbid aren’t they? The hate & anger they have for us is absolutely unreal. You actually worry about the mental state of some of them to the point I’m half tempted to donate some tin foil hats to ease the pain.
They're not at all acidic reaction to our result v United is exactly the sort of vicariously joyous response one would expect upon seeing *checks notes* their "fiercest rivals" getting walloped by a team they *sorry, notes again* "couldn't care less about".

our thread on RAWK gets better and better . piss seriously boiled .
as it happens they don't care about us , it says so in the 700 page thread about City .

oh and they've gone off football now.
They seem particularly upset about @Prestwich_Blue ? As you were dippers - next year la.
