The Conservative Party

Just when I thought I couldn’t detest her any more. Weirdly quite a few Tories (Coffey, Rees-Mogg, McVey, Dan Hodges etc) profess to support Liverpool. Club of the establishment, I guess.

I suspect its " SIRI tell me the name of a popular football club" ......... Cameron predated these days so he mistook West Ham for Villa who he only picked by Googling which club does Prince William follow

Can anyone see a general election actually happening any time soon?

Obviously it'd be suicidal to call one.

The only way to force one is to bring a vote of no confidence which means 72 conservatives would have to vote with Labour & everyone else.

So I guess a lot will depend on who the next leader is and how divisive they are within the party.

If they pick Braverman or Patel? I can see it. If they pick Wallace they'll probably just go into damage limitation mode and try to survive 2 years without controversy.

You only need half that number to swap across. Each one that does takes one off the govt number and adds one to the opposition vote

No, sadly. The Conservative Party are all about self-preservation rather than the greater national good, and turkeys don’t vote for Christmas. We’re stuck with these clowns until 24/25 unfortunately.

You get what you vote for Ric.

Hunt has spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday telling the world that he was just in the job, didn’t have all the data, and so couldn’t say what would happen and we’d have to wait, but, lo and behold, because the markets could react badly, he is to make changes today and then explain them to Parliament. But, of course, he wishes to be honest…

72 to abstain, 36 to vote with the opposition.

Braverman or Patel only if the members got a say which won't happen. They can't find a unity candidate as they are not united, and it's hard to say how much disunity would be involved in choosing between Hunt, Wallace and Mordaunt. I suspect Sunak is the only obvious choice as he was MPs' choice before.

Think they better had appoint Sunak as he appears to be capable of torpedoing anyone else who becomes prime minister.
