Dortmund sharpened up their shooting boots with a 5-0 win at the weekend, and our defence not filling me with confidence recently.
Understand what you are saying but the team they beat at weekend -Stuttgart- are third bottom in the Bundesliga P 11 W1 D5 L5 , so it's hard to judge if Dortmund were good or they were poor.

Not that difficult - our goal difference is +5 more than Dortmund so unless they really turn us over big time, realistically we only need to match their result in the final game to go through top even if we lose tomorrow.
If we are equal on points with them at the end of the group it may not matter what our goal difference is. Who comes top is decided by head to head. So, if they beat us 2-0 and then we both win our last game, we finish second (even if we tank Seville 10-0). Goal difference will only come into play if they beat us 2-1

The only way goal difference comes into it is if we lose 2-1 tomorrow.

If they beat us 1-0 or by 2 or more goals, and we both finish on the same points, they top the group.

They decide the group based on:

1 - points
2 - head to head (including away goals rule)
3 - GD

I'm saying in the groups, if two teams finish dead level you can't exactly have extra time after matchday 6.
No and if you did, there’s no guarantee it would affect the outcome.

There are loads of other variables that could be used, I’m just surprised that away goals as still one of them having been scrapped elsewhere.

What else can you use though if H2H and goal difference are level?

I’m old school. Points then goal difference then goals scored for me. It’s worked for over a hundred years.
They're all used though, what happens if they're level? Serie A and La Liga have been using H2H including away goals for a similar period and it's worked perfectly as well.

I think it makes goal difference irrelevant, so if two teams are on the same points, they both know who is ahead on the head to head record, meaning they don’t have to go and score as many goals as they can to beat their rival on goal difference.

Liverpool’s collapse at Crystanbul wouldn't have happened if it were on head to head results. They’d have won 3-0 as they wouldn’t have pushed for more goals.
