Rishi Sunak

So this is the bloke who the tory party decided he wasnt as good as Truss as he lost to her. Now the tory party think he is better than Truss. So the person who couldnt beat Truss is now in charge, the first loser is now the winner !
Slightly misleading as Sunak was preferred by most MPs last time as well. It was the party members who decided Truss was a better option.

I agree.

It is sad to say but if Penny Mordant had not pulled out at the last minute and it had gone to the Tory membership, Rishi Sunak would have lost (again) for racial discrimination reasons as he did when he went up against Truss, even though he was favoured by a majority of Tory MPs.

So in a way, this whole sorry 6 weeks has turned out for the best. Boris Johnson coming back was just too ridiculous for words - he had only been booted out a few months ago - plus he wasn't really that good anyway. He didn't get Brexit done because we don't have control of our borders or our laws (the channel boats and the Rwanda thing is evidence of that). He was too much into green issues setting unachieveable targets - possibly at the behest of his wife. Plus he got rid of his smartest advisor (Dominic Cummings) also because he clashed with his wife and consequently his ally became his enemy.

Penny Mordant would have probably have been another Theresa May or another Liz Truss (although I do think her communication skills are better than both of those). But well done her for backing down just before 2pm. Well done Johnson, yesterday evening, too for doing the right thing - for once.

The Tory party must now stop the in-fighting and try to sort out multiple difficult situations, some of their making and some not - the pandemic and the war in the Ukraine for instance.
I met someone on holiday during the original election to replace BJ who said that they were chairman of a Tory party constituency, I won’t say which. This person didn’t want Rishi as PM and when I asked why the answer was ’because he is Indian’. Shocked wasn’t the word and the conversation ended very quickly. I could barely look at this person for the rest of my holiday.

Name them

He doesn't want to.

This is the state of play, the left are quickly weaponising Sunaks race even though the Labour party haven't had a woman or a minority in the big seat.

The moral high ground has never been so low.
Not sure “the left” are doing anything.

Tory party members are doing all the work that is necessary at the moment to highlight skin colour.

You need to sit down in a darkened room with a bottle of whisky and think this through.

No he wasn’t, that was when there were other candidates still in the race. When it went down to just the two of them, Truss had more endorsements.
