How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Those figures are from 2019, when we were still in the EU.

We sort of left in 2020, and I think you'll find those reports aren't relevant since those halcyon days of frictionless cross border trade.

Have a look at the export figures today, and ask yourself why import controls are still not being imposed?

Maybe it's because the shortages would be so extreme the narrative of brexit and 'bringing back control' would be exposed for the bullshit it always was, and ask anyone involved in sending goods from the UK into the EU how they are 'prospering mightlily' since we left the EU?

Hammond just exposed the reality of why successive Conservative governments have failed to attain growth. Johnson’s dream was predicated on an American deal (not happening) and Truss’ dream was predicated on borrowing to fund tax cuts (not happening). Sunak is now back to the situation before Brexit minus the benefits the U.K. then enjoyed. Tough times ahead.

As everyone sensible said, there was never ever going to be a US deal because of the vandalism to the Good Friday Agreement. The whole thing was the pipe dream of clowns.

‘Ask yourself why import controls are still not being imposed’.
Thats a very good question and it was answered a few weeks back by that poster boy for brexit, reet smug, when he described such an action as ‘an act of self-harm’
Well, he should know.

Years of economic pain and a slow step by step return to the EU. There is no other solution. Sadly those responsible will never be held accountable until they are dead and in our grandchildren’s history books.

The UK will never rejoin the European Union, that's because the the UK will cease to exist within a generation.

Scotland will likely be gone within a decade and Northern Ireland could rejoin the South.

Possibly, but I'm going to stick my neck out and say the next prime minister of this country will rejoin - possibly just the single market, but I suspect the strings attached to that will be essentially full EU membership in all but name. As the pound continues its downward trajectory a hop over to the euro may actually save what's left of the post brexit economy as it is a more credible currency.

Henry Bolton - a former UKIP Leader when they were burning through one a week ( thats UKIP not the Tories - easily confused ) - a short story of how stupidly ignrant these people are

Poor old Henry- still fighting ww2.
Whats he going to be like when it’s over and he finds that the extremist racists and xenophobes lost?!?

I understand the arguments for / against but the situation isn't going to change is it?

Another humdinger of a post from you. Quite the talent for getting right to the crutch of the matter.
Not really, why worry about things you can't control?, vote was done years ago. I past caring a long time ago about it.

I imagine some are worrying due to real life issues being caused to them and their families due to Brexit. Im sure you did pass caring a long time ago which begs the question why you’d pop up on the thread with a shit one liner.

I understand it's easier to tell yourself things "out of your control" aren't worth caring about but surely seeing our country go to shit for the most pointless, self-inflicted reason rouses something inside you?
