What a weapon we have in our armoury.
Haaland must eat plutonium coated muesli....

Great win and fully deserved.

The penalty and sending off made it harder than it should have been but even with 10 men we dominated the vast majority of the game.

Bernardo ran his socks off as always, Akanji was fantastic one on one especially and John Stones played superbly even though out of position.

Alvarez - what a finish from the lad...he is some player....also played well in general.

Lets hope Chelsea can get a result tomorrow.
Raz will score the winner!

The sending off is a consequence of deciding if its a foul. It’s nothing to do with the ferocity of the foul, it’s just he’s the last man.

Once the Ref decides it’s a foul, and denial of a goal scoring opportunity, the rest is by the book.

Listen to Pep’s post match interview, he goes in to detail about defenders needing to understand the potential consequences of their actions.

To paraphrase, Pep said, “let him through, Eddy could save, he could miss, but the team would have 11 players for 65 minutes to score more goals”. He then reels off all the names of our defenders who don’t make those sort of mistakes (hint : the list doesn’t include Cancello)
I’m not saying it wasn’t a red, and I understand why that decision was made, I’ve also got a grasp on the lotg as well as Peps reaction, what I’m simply asking is has anyone seen a situation comparable to yesterdays (they will exist) as I haven’t. We seem to be market leaders in refereeing abnormalities, both for and against. In Joaos defence the one thing he isn’t is a central defender, the way he dealt with it was like a fullback, but he found himself in an area of the pitch where you can’t defend like that, he very rarely has to cover round the back (that’s more a KW role) he’ll live & learn

Maybe but he got the two penalty decisions right.
The Fulham player knew what he had done straight away and Pep told Cancelo he should not have fouled the Fulham player,he may have missed or Eddie would have saved it.
Agree, them equalising in the 15th minute just means 4-1 result with 11 men. With 10 men much more difficult as we witnessed

Dont wish to sound all Fordy about it, but Cancelo doesnt seem the 'learning' type to me anyway. He is prone to doing continued silly things like that. Great skill, lovely attacking player, so not having a full pop. Just seems a defensive brain fart waiting to happen

Can’t believe nutters are excusing and disputing it

I can.

You see similar penalty incidents that end up with no sending off. If there is room to debate it in the rules, which there is, people will debate it.

It is a penalty all day long. But is it denying of a goal scoring opportunity? Any more than a player being brought down by a keeper rushing out getting beat to the ball, or a sliding tackle defender not quite making it? He was at full pace to get to a loose ball, got beat to it, clattered into the player. Clumsy, mistimed, a penalty for sure. Debatable that it is a red though. Could be given and was, could easily not have been. Hence it is being disputed.

Watched the full game back this morning after being there and I didn't realize the workrate of Bernardo in the 2nd half.

He was fucking everywhere. It was like having two Bernardo's out there

Surely he must of beaten his own record for the most KM's run in a match

Also big shout out to Kev who in the last 25 minutes really took the game by the Scruff of the neck

Both phenomenonal performances

I mentioned this in my post match post KW.

Bernardo absolutely ran the show. His movement around the whole pitch to create angles and space was world class. He was even covering in all of the back 4 positions at times.

Football brain of the very highest calibre.

The Fordy.

Giving The Clarkie a run for it’s money?

If you foul a forward in the box about to shoot without going for the ball, you’ll give away a penalty and get yourself sent off every single time.

Agree, but in what way did he nit go for the ball?

My opinion on it earlier above.

Had the misfortune of listening to o’hara on the way home. Hes thick as pig shite.

Usually avoid TS but didnt fancy the leicester game on 5live

Hes was just banging on about grealish.
Its anything to avoid talking about a great win
Same as was stuck in traffic on the way home.

A few blues rang up and called him out on it and he didn’t really have answer on it other than to backtrack by saying “I love grealish and just want him to do well” - he’s thick as pig shit the lad.

Enjoyed the blue who rang him up and asked him what he’d achieved in his career to be able to call out Grealish week in week out, obviously o’hara had no answer for it so he just cut the blue off which was telling.

Not exactly what I have said in my comment but along the correct lines I knew it was years back and couldn't quite exactly remember what he said. As the head of the Premier League he shouldn't be saying that.
Scudamore said something he really shouldn't have. Along the lines of a strong rag side is good for the P.L.
C*nt.

Can anyone explain to me why it was a pen (it was) and a red?
What happened to this double jeopardy rule?
In order for it to be double jeopardy, the defender must be deemed ’trying to play the ball.’ Cancelo made no effort to play the ball as it was a barge in the attackers back, not shoulder to shoulder, which is legal. So.. it was DOGSO.. That is a red card and penalty if in the area.

Very, very naive by Cancelo. He's terrific going forward and gives us so much, but by God he's unintelligent in defence at times. Him and Salah was another one like that, although I'm still absolutely convinced that Salah uses his upper arm to flip the ball down onto his foot. Oddly, not apparently reviewed by VAR.
