2022 World Cup Discussion

Does the alcohol decision make much difference? Just stay and drink as much as you can in your hotel before heading to the game. No one will want to be out in the heat anyway. Italia 90 they banned alcohol for 50 plus hours to combat the England hooligans they were so concerned about. The English just stocked up before that and stayed in their hotels boozing. Where there's a will there's a way.

I know many people aren't bothered by this tournament, and I get it. It's at a silly time in the year and it should never have been given to Qatar. But it shouldn't have been given to Brazil or Russia either. Both lacked the infrastructure and had major political/human rights issues. England could host the tournament at the drop of the hat. We'd just cause carnage on our own streets, fight with rival fans, racially abuse our own players and sing a lot.

A lot of people need to get off their high horse. The decision was made, it was obviously corrupt - as has since been uncovered. Let's let them get on with it now. Our own club has owners from Abu Dhabi who have their own rules around alcohol and gay rights and their own issues on human rights. Our own country has people dying in boats trying to get over here so they can visit Rwanda. Concentrate on the football. The wider issues are deep rooted and evident in every single country. No one whinged about the Climate Change conference taking place in Egypt, a country who has a (now)British citizen imprisoned and that will not release him and a poor record on human rights. Yet addressing climate change is viewed as a positive, so they park their dissent in that case.

Germany, Spain, France and Belgium to have poor tournaments. England v Argentina in the final. It's coming home.
"Our own country has people dying in boats" ?

Well that was shit. A team massively out of their depth against a semi-competent side that treated it like a warm up game. The Qatari obvious United fans leaving in droves at halftime when their own team are in their first ever world cup game was embarrassing, noticed all the fifa official cameras had the angles firmly tilted down to hide it.

Imagine what it'll be like a week into the competition and those third often meaningless games are coming up when the one game you'd expect to be rammrd is mostly empty after 60 minutes. Seen more excitement from the nations league games.
Premier League offers better entertainment and better quality players every weekend.
Pinnacle of world football, my arse.

Those ‘Qatari’ ultras behind the goal are the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. What a fucking joke.

What I don’t understand is why Qatar wanted this? They’ve paid a fortune to do nothing other than humiliate themselves. The place is suitable for the Qataris but of little interest for international visitors from around the world (there’s only so many times you can wander round a museum of Islamic art). The team is embarrassingly bad. The people obviously don’t care enough to watch a full game. The stadiums are white elephants that will get no use beyond the tournament. Why did they spend billions for this?!
They’ve paid supporters from every country haven’t they?

Got to admit I only saw a bit of it and that was "fans" walking in. Families mainly.
Looked like the better off ones and that they couldn't give a shite really. Almost as if they were the wealthier ones who went only for the prestige.

Sterile shit
