Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

There doing site survey drilling as far back as the Joe Mercer mosaic. Drilling cores all over the area.b

Thanks for the updates Stockton Health Blue.
Very interesting.

Thanks for that Gouldybob.

Always a good sign when drilling and (possible) soil samples are being taken. Unless it's to do with the Co-op Live Arena.(which I hope it isn't and doubt it is) Right time to do the drilling whilst there's no football at the Etihad for 4 weeks. I'll nip down tomorrow and get some pictures

It’s definitely the new stand and City Square.

The Emirates Palace will NOT be coming to Ashton New or Old Road.

it's a 7 * PALACE where you can buy gold bars out of vending machines !!
Wow, luxury. We have to traipse over to Asda for ours ...

All we need is a "Here we go" I agree with @jrb that the hotel and club shop will be moved into a building that will be built on the former "Super Casino" land along with other buildings with pubs and other leisure facilities, you say that this is taking place over the next summers, the covered plaza will be the last part to get done as the where the worker's units are just now as the new city square would need to be next to the improved North Stand.

Here is a suggestion away fan zone so City make money out of away fans as well, you could place it next to the Nexen Bridge as pictured below

I heard that the extended corporate in SS2 may include a dedicated area behind the seats for away fans....plastic cutlery, paper plates etc and plenty £€$ !!

It might make some sense to have a museum / club shop complex opposite the statues - would really tie the whole thing in - we have to plan for Kev and Pep et al to have statues at some point - so it’s an ongoing process and there’s plenty of space to develop something that can be expanded over time on that side of the stadium.

My own personal view is that the store and museum will be in the stand. City Square is the area which attracts the greatest gathering of people and footflow before and after a game. Not only that but they could make the tour, museum and store all part of a single experience. Go on the stadium tour, go through the museum and end up in the store to finish it off like they do with a lot of major attractions.

Maybe this the land they are going to use.

City Sq /Plaza would be extended to take in the space at where the workers units are at the moment, you could built you new club shop etc there. The other side of Gibbon Street (running along side AT Way) you could built a new building that could have club offices a hotel and pubs and other leisuire activities and facilities

Got to be for the new proposals. Based on the updates it looks like we're pretty much there with proposals and the soil testing will be needed as part of the planning application which we'll probably see very early in the new year if we're wanting to start enabling works in the summer. Exciting times. Interesting that the roof is different on the NS hopefully that's because we have an expanded 2nd tier.

Latest update from my mate (but still no drawings): -

- Contractor finalising logistics & programme with City
- Enabling works definitely starting over the summer
- Bulk of works across next 2 summers
- Stand extension, hotel, museum, hospitality and offices with a covered plaza

Trying to find out where the hotel and offices will be situated. Couldn't confirm if the extension is a continuous 2nd tier, which is the most important piece, but said the roof was slightly different than the SS.

Reading posts like this, it's extremely exciting to think what the Etihad Campus will be like by 2025. Pleasing if the hotel is indeed part of the next phase - and especially if the mooted casino and conferencing facilities are incorporated into it at the stage. Remember that Co-op Live, according to the Sunday Times, will already have "32 bars, restaurants and clubs" that are open day in, day out.

It seems that the Campus might well be genuinely transformed in terms of its attractiveness as a destination. Starting to look as though all those bold claims in past versions of the Eastlands Regeneration Framework could be about to be realised to a significant degree.

Three drilling machines taking cores of very grey stuff with another half dozen areas fenced/being fenced off with rubber mats for the machines to sit on. Looks like a few have already been done/identified as little circles all over the pace between the NS and the shop
