Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Has there been any talk about an increased or improved Metrolink service?

The parties would not disclose the value of CFG’s investment but confirmed that it was now an equal partner in the £350m project with OVG.

“Co-op Live unlocks the potential for the Etihad Campus to grow as an entertainment destination that creates more reasons for the nation and world to visit Manchester,” said Marty Edelman, board director at City Football Group.

This partnership must be worth at least £30 million a year after costs. Really this is excellent news. Along with hotel and retail/housing, we could be looking at an extra 40-50m more income than dippers or the scum, Truly delicious prospect!

Presumably CFG can use any income from the arena to spend on infrastructure or academies because that is exempt from FFP in its current form. On top of that we should be able to sell joint music/football sponsorships that will contribute to direct club revenues. So long term it could free up more cash to spend on the squad.
It's a fantastic business model which can be replicated in New York, China etc etc. No wonder our commercial rivals are shitting themselves. We could use the arena for NBA Basketball for example. Perhaps even a CFG team. Instead of slagging us off our rivals should be rising to the challenge.

Didn't think people tended to bother with physical models any more these days. Thought it was all done as 3D CAD models with 'fly throughs' etc.

I'm pretty sure because the arena is directly on the Etihad campus, the money we get back from it is classed as income, so can be used for any area, including transfers.

That's fantastic because it could open up a lot of sponsorship and hospitality revenue. In any case it looks like FFP is being scrapped in favour of some sort of wages control which should not do us that much damage if it is applied fairly to all clubs.

I remember reading that the plan was to increase service frequency on the East Manchester Line to 1 tram per 6 minutes.

This was supposed to happen sometime during 2019 but I am not sure it had actually been implemented before the pandemic struck.

Looks like area around Wembley may be the model then

Manchester designer outlet and a load of hotels next?
