Thought we made a good show of ourselves yesterday.

No shame at all in being knocked out by France.

That ref was league 2 level at best.

Even if Southgate does bow out now, he’s done us proud, as have Harry and the lads.

(Apart from the scousers and rags. You let our country down you cunts.)
What part was a good show? The slow backwards passing between the back four? The two defensive midfielders receiving the ball then passing it back to the CBs? Fuck me, England will forever be nearly nearly men whilst people accept shit like that.

England looked better when Foden came inside more and got on the ball. He needs to play more of a number ten as at times for the national team he seems starved of the ball on the left hand side.

The media ask questions about Foden playing for England in that role earlier in the competition and Southgate snapped at them, saying he doesn’t play in that role.

Pep says he can play 5 positions

Southgate knows better

I’m not asking you to agree but I don’t see it as an outrageous suggestion to insist on an English manager for the English team.

Why not go the next step and let the players pick whichever country they like? We’re half way there with the grandparents nonsense anyway.
Ok

He got Middlesbrough relegated. He's a low level office boy who the management team have promoted to supervisor because they think he's 'on message' and always dresses smart and never says anything negative. He's not very good at the job but the management team like what he represents and shows the buisness in a good light.

An incompetent cheerleaded by incompetents.

It is outrageous to ‘insist’ on the England manager being English. It’s small time little England bollocks. If there’s a great English manager available then great, go for it. If there isn’t then look further afield. Second paragraph is nonsense

Absolutely nailed it Looby and precisely why Clough, the best English manager by a country mile at that time, was repeatedly overlooked by the blazers at Lancaster Gate

Southgate wants defensive qualities from his midfield and Phil should be an out and out attacking midfielder. He has the skills, talent and quality to cause enormous problems but Southgate sees problems where others see opportunities. That's the way he's always been.
Gary Neville said earlier in the tournament, when Phil wasn't being picked, that in any of the other major teams he would walk into their sides and play at the heart of their midfield's. Only Gareth thinks otherwise. Too negative.

Pretty much every other major football country are outrageous enough to insist on it.

We wasted 20 minutes with pointless sideways passing . We looked scared to go forward and a yard slower than them.
Southgate had a decent squad but essentially just played 13 players.
His subs just meant the game was up.
Maddison will be glad of the air miles and the duty free.

Four players rated as 8's this morning in the DT, and Rice is one of 'em. I wouldn't give him a standing eight before any game. But when I looked at the team before ko I wondered who would provide the midfield creativity. Didn't think Rice would, but he's 'safe' and that's what Southgate prefers.

We probably had as good a squad as anyone and better than most, but where was the panache. Southgate has safety first tattooed on both buttocks, and a world cup has never been won by a team playing safe.
Except for Morocco.

Next Manager will received the exact same cliche stick - it’s a poison challice
What cliche stick? Every single criticism Southgate has received has been warranted. Only idiots, and you’re not alone on this judging by a couple of posts I’ve read today think that he’s the man for the job.

Is Bobby available?

Except for France both times they have won it, Brazil in 2002.

They aren't many teams whose holding midfielder provides the creativity, I'm not sure anyone would say Rodri does that for us other than when playing against packed defences at home.

Easy to have a go at henderson but Rice was the worst midfileder yesterday and offered fuck all.

I would have prefered if he had given henderson, who is a better holding midfielder and has been for years that role and dropped Rice who has been average all tournament as he has been at west ham, or even played phillips moved foden inside and played grealish or rashford
Part of the point I was trying to make. Henderson doesn't have the legs to do it against big teams anymore and his own club fans admit it. If you put Henderson in the 6 on his own, it's going to be disastrous and it's been proven a few times this season.

Rice is a good player, but griezman is slick and we also needed someone tucked in who can cover runs. A double of rice and Bellingham would have served is better imo. But I do agree that foden needed moving inside, something that Southgate should have noticed and acted on.
