Tricky one this, our England players and Alvarez obviously not available, some rusty without playing for a month and others probably still reeling from World Cup disappointment, I know some of this applies to the opposition, but their players in general haven’t been as involved in the World Cup as ours. Personally I want us to win because it is Liverpool, but part of me thinks if we need to keep the Champions League and Premier League challenges on track, something has to give. I would sacrifice the Carabao and FA Cup, but would prefer to survive one more round in both because of the opposition.
I think momentum is more important than fatigue. We need to beat Liverpool and lay down a marker. I think the League Cup has generally been great for City. We wln an early trophy and it takes pressure off the rest of the season. The FA Cup later stages are usually a bridge too far because they clash with the CL. Winning is a great habit to have and City seem to be a team that produces large winning runs and get better the more matches we play.

Lowest of my priorities every season these days.
Couldn't care less that it's the feral twats we're playing. Let them have their moment in the sun - they'll be playing Europa League football next season anyway.

Does anyone know when the England players are back in training? I imagine the likes of Phillips and Grealish would be keen to play having hardly featured in Qatar. Presumably their fitness levels will be fine.
i think everybody will back this Monday.

except alaverz,maybe next Monday.

Can see the team being something like this:

Ortega
Lewis
Akanji
Laporte
Gomez
Phillips
Gundogan
De Bruyne
Mahrez
Palmer
Haaland

I’m really disappointed that we won’t be going full strength actually. I’d normally be of the mindset that this cup is low priority and all that but I’m absolutely sick of losing unluckily to these cunts.

I now really want to beat these twats at every opportunity , they deserve nothing less due to their cuntish demeanour.

They'll probably be able to field a stronger team than us, as a result of having fewer players at the World Cup. The likes of Matip, Robertson, Thiago, Elliot, Salah, Firmino and maybe Jota will all be fresh. On the flip side, they play again on the 26th whereas we don't play Leeds until the 28th, so that might be a factor in team selection. Should be a good game anyway, and can't wait to be back at the Etihad. The World Cup has been decent, but international football never stirs the emotions in the way club football does.

You really think Liverpool are that bad? Apart from us they're the only team that can go on a 10-15 winning game run, they'll finish top 4 comfortably.

Guess we'll be close to full strength. Walker has played 2-3 full games since early October. It's pointless to rest him and the likes of Akanji, Laporte, Phillips, Grealish...Guess only Alvarez, Bernardo, Stones and Foden won't make the squad, and I'm not sure about Foden, he may make the bench.

Liverpool may be without Alisson, VVD and Konate, maybe Henderson, too. Robertson, Gomez and Matip haven't played competitive games for 6 weeks...TAA did barely play in the WC.

I thought I read on this thread that we won't be playing the English players. Walker, BErnando and Foden in particular will be massive misses.

I think we may have accept that for whatever reaons , Pep will put out a team that gives the fucking sewer rats a better chance of winning this one.

Obviously through clenched and hate filled teeth.
